I wrote a review of this magazine several years ago, but now it's gone so I am writing another! Yes, this magazine is expensive for residents of the United States, but it is such an excellent magazine for people who love decorating ideas! The current economy has hurt the magazine industry and some of the better home decorating magazines are no longer being published.
This Canadian magazine has so many great ideas for decorating. Sorry, Better Homes and Gardens magazine is okay, but has way too many ads in it. I don't want a doll that looks just like a real baby ( a frequent ad ), I just want to look at ideas. If you are one of those people who look forward to the arrival of your latest Pottery Barn catalog, then you should get this magazine.
I used to live in Canada and was a loyal customer of Style at Home. After our return to the States, I was so disappointed to find my former favorite American shelter magazines had started giving too much attention to perfectly designed spaces. That's all they ever featured. I was very glad to find out I could order Style at Home from Amazon. Yes, there are some designer pages and ads for some shops in Canadabut I still come away with more achieveable ideas for my own home from this publication than any american shelter magazine I used to get. They give you much more confidence than the others, and less pressure to hold your house up to designer efforts.

I rehab and resell homes and have found this magazine to be consistently among the best for fresh clean decorating ideas. Yes, the cost of the subscription is high due to the import from Canada. However, it's worth every penny. When you think about it, purchasing one off magazines from a retail store will cost you about the same in a year and this magazine is better and will show up in your mail box.
