Nabakov would not read the NY Times which he thought intellectual pretentiousness . Instead he loved the 'New York Daily News' with its yellow -page screaming scandalous cheap headlines.I remember the Daily News in the old days when its competition was the 'Daily Mirror' which we preferred. Grantland Rice among others wrote for the 'Mirror'.
I look at the 'Daily News ' occasionallyin great part because of its hard-hitting patriotic American political line. I also like because it is very proIsrael.
Enjoy it nostagically with coffee and a doughnut at the Automat or Chockfull-oNuts.
