Canoe & Kayak (1-year auto-renewal)

Canoe & KayakMy husband and I love to recreational kayak and even have a well known website on kayaking in Oklahoma. We both look forward to receiving this magazine every couple of months because of it's great photos and features.

Every year I buy this for my husband, but I enjoy it as much as he does. Reading the stories and seeing the photos really inspire us to get away from the computer, toss the boats in the truck and hit the water.

I highly recommend this magazine, it's inexpensive, has great features & photos and it helps you "get away from it all" even when you're stuck inside.

I think this is definately more geared toward the leisure kayaker. At least that is according to my husband. He enjoys the magazine, but for someone who is looking to read more about adventure and class IV's, this isn't exactly where you'll find it. Overall a good mag, but not renewing it based on the adventure aspect.

Nice magazine, especially if you are a Kayaker. For Canoeists, like myself, the articles re canoes are few and far between. Still, occasionally, there are enjoyable articles which make it worth the price.

Canoeing is one of my favorite past times. However, it is not as "cool" as whitewater kayaking so my magazine options are limited. Thank goodness for Canoe and Kayak. I look forward to each and every issue. The pictures are amazingly beautiful and there is a wide variety of topics covered in the articles. The tone of the writing is relaxed, humorous, informative, and evocative. I use this adjective because reading about the adventures of others and seeing the incredible paddling destinations makes me want to paddle! In addition to the buyer's guide, other issues often include gear reviews (i.e. life vest, paddles, etc.). Why only 4 stars, you ask? You only get 6 issues per year. The wait between issues always makes me wonder if it's been lost in the mail or if my subscription has run out. Also, it's a little pricey compared to my other subscriptions. They are usually 12 issues for 7 bucks with a discount. To end on a good note, Canoe and Kayak is your best option if you like to paddle...without a skirt.

My wife and I got flat water kayaks about a year ago. As a fairly new kayak person, I was looking for general information about kayaks. A lot of this magazine is white water kayak info which is not helpful but the stories are good. I did renew it recently. It's not exactly what I was looking for but it is a good magazine.
