Northern Woodlands
I was recently introduced to "Northern Woodlands" by a friend of mine, and I'm quite impressed with the magazine. Not only is the photography stunning, but the content is of high quality. I particularly like that it isn't purely a conservationist's soapbox, but they offer information on forest value and management as well. I'm not a forester, but still enjoy this magazine. My friend from Vermont gave me a gift subscription to this magazine four years ago ... and I've been subscribing to it myself ever since. It is an informative(and often enlightening)resource to the last chapter of New England's agricultural community. Those many steadfast Northerners who no long can afford a farm have been for decades managing woodlots that are harvested for a modest income. How to best manage their woodland ... and who to best deal with in lumbering ... are their concerns; and Northern Woodlands is what is read. I'll bet that it's replaced the old almanac in most homes!
