Soldier of Fortune

Soldier of FortuneYes, you read correctly, World War III. That is what we are fighting right now. Soldier of Fortune brings coverage from all over the world that you don't get in the mainstream press. And the talking heads on TV certainly don't mention some of what SOF covers.

In every issue, there is a Terrorism Sitrep which gives a run-down on various arrests, attacks and other details related to worldwide terrorism. It's the first thing I open to because in 2 or 3 minutes, I can get a feel for what's going on.

Further, they gave (and still give) excellent coverage to the wars in Afganistan and Iraq. But they still cover what mercs are doing in Western Africa and how a small group of guys is trying to make a difference on the US-Mexican border (Ranch Rescue).

All-in-all, a great magazine. Definitely on the cutting edge with its stories, giving the reader information not readily accessible. If you are a military person, and/or concerned about what's REALLY going on in the world, you should read this. If you claim to be a patriotic American, you should read this to find out what the mainstream press won't tell you about the Mexican army, illegal drug runners, and the invasion of our southern border. READ THIS MAGAZINE!

Soldier of Fortune is not a great magazine, but it is a good magazine to keep an eye on. The articles generally include interviews with prominent politicians and military figures, reviews of guns, and news stories and research pieces. The news stories tend to come heavily from the right, and the conclusions they come to sometimes sound like conspiracy theories, but it is good that some people lean forward on the news to try to put things together. Also usually included is a piece on a military operation of the past, reviewing tactics, equipment, and personalities involved. I enjoy reading this magazine and have learned some things from it. I recommend it.

Though I live in the UK (England if you prefer) I subscribe to Soldier of Fortune, because I admire it's forthright, often outspoken views. Though there are military magazines published here they tend to be either factual (planes or tanks), or historical. SoF's passionate defence of America and it's constitution, and individual rights is something you do not see very often this side of the ocean! Our magazines tend to be more reserved. If only the UK could produce something as patriotic. Opinion aside SoF has sharp colour photos, and more important articles covering topics which are simply ignored by the mainstream media.

Heartily recommended. If you in the USA it's a bargain!!!

I'm a Brazilian, single and I was born in 1970. I never left my country, except for some weeks. I read just a few issues of this amazing American magazine. Please, I read many other American magazines, also about weapons and wars, but Soldier of Fortune is the best of them. If you want to read what is really happening in places such as Iraq or wants to know what really are Iran, Somalia, Venezeula or even Argentina and Brazil, this is a great choice.

For any war happening today, this is the best magazine to read. It seems that it doesn't sells good, but this is the best magazine in its area.

This Mag covers everything from our troops serving in combat and occupation missions to the best new equipment. SOF also gives you a rundown on different weapons and stories of guys who lived to tell their own personal war stories. The World SITREP column in the centerfold gives a look at global stability or lack thereof and you can read about terrorist arrests and threats you are not being told about through mainstream media. The contributing editors are in the places they are writing about and are not there on assignment for the Mag, but are there helping to better the cause, so that what you read is accurate and fresh. I have been reading SOF since I was in 6th grade in the early 80's and I can remember reading about Osama bin Laden well before most Americans ever even heard the word Taliban. Read it and be up to speed it's a great source of info.

BTW you will save a lot of money by using the subscription card in the Mag

Life & Style Weekly

Life & Style WeeklyIf you are already familiar with gossip magazines such as People, US Weekly, In Touch, etc., you may have seen this or even picked up a copy of it at the newsstand. And, while this magazine focuses a little bit more on clothing choices and lifestyles of celebrities, it still has the makings of a gossip magazines. These include up-to-minute news on who's pregnant, married, going out, etc., along with movie, TV, and celebrity news, plus the occasional important news story, although that is really rare.

I personally like Life & Style for its fashion coverage; they do a great job of detailing celebrity looks and how you can get them for less. As for the actual gossip, well, it's nothing really new, and usually can be found on the covers of all of the competing magazines which do a more thorough job of detailing them. As an overall conclusion, if you like reading about celebrity style, homes, etc., along with some good gossip and news, then by all means go ahead and read this magazine. If you're more into some thorough and up-to-minute gossip, try reading something else.

I agree with the other reviewers, the magazine never arrives on time. It took 3 months to finally get started and now I go 3-4 weeks before a few finally trickle in. I never get them all. My address label is always placed on top of someone else's address label. I have called customer service (800-228-4957) many times and nothing has ever been resolved. I subscribe to other weekly magazines and do not have this problem with them. I will never subscribe to Life & Style again.

Decent magazine as far as content for fashion and gossip, but I also agree with another reader with the fact that you don't know when/if you'll get one. I won't get one for two weeks, then I'll get three at once. Then nothing for two weeks, then one will come. Very sporadic. I emailed my complaint and will see how/if it gets resolved. I've never had any other issue with weekly magazines.

I personally don't read this magazine (unless it's in arms reach and I'm extremely bored), however, as a gift it's great. My wife loves this stuff.

I have two small problems with this product, both aren't the publisher's fault. First, make sure to change the name to HER name, not yours. Secondly, I thought this would curb her impulse gossip mag purchasing... not even close. That will never stop.

I am disappointed that the magazine comes so late by mail almost one week from the time you can buy it in the supermarket.
