Outdoor Life (1-year auto-renewal)

Outdoor life is a nice magazine. There are some very interesting articles and the writers are certainly educated on hunting, fishing, camping, and outdoor survival. This magazine is a must for the outdoorsman. I'm only giving it 4 stars because some of the articles seem to be recycled from month to month and I'd like to see some more interesting content/ideas. Nonetheless I plan to re-up my subscription for another year.

I doubt I'll renew my subscription to this magazine. It seems like there were a lot of real bad articles in the magazine and all the better writers that they used to have are no longer writing for them like Jim Zumbo, Pat McManus and others.

This magazine is for the normal Joe Blow. If you want to read about some guy who hunted on a ranch and killed a 200+ inch steroid fed beast, stay away. If you want tips on how to hunt pressured public land or to see pictures of readers' deer, then this is what you need to be reading.

Overall the magazine is pretty good. Easy reading. Gives me something to do for about 15 min's a month. Came during the time advertised.

Outdoor Life was once a classy outdoor magazine with good writing and a conservation bent. It has descended to the lowest rung of the genre. Small snippets of trite advice and a heavy heaping of red-neck philosophy. Sad.

School Arts - the Art Education Magazine for K-12 Art Educat

As an art teacher who has taught at all level from elementary to high school, this is a very valuable resource. I have been a subscriber for 7 years and still have every issue. Whenever I am looking for new ideas for my classes, I turn back to my past issues and always find a great project. One of the best for our field.

As an elementary art teacher, this is a great resource! Not only are there many, many ideas for all age groups (many are very adaptable with a little creativity) it is a great source for new products. The clip cards are wonderful and I especially love the new Famous Artist cards giving a short bio of each artist in a card format. I keep all my clip cards organized in a file box and it has grown to be a fantastic place to look for new ideas no matter what grade I am teaching this week. I look forward to every issue. This magazine is a great inspirational tool!

I love getting new, contemporary ideas monthly in the mail! I look forward to the trip to the post office just knowing that School Arts might be waiting for me. There are many wonderful ideas and beautiful pictures contained in the publication. The talent contained within amazes me, as it produced by such youngsters.

Continental Modeller

First of all, let me preface this review by stating that it takes a while for the subscription to kick in..... almost the maximum amount of time for that matter. Then you'll notice the price. At 3 pounds 25, it is roughly $6.50 at the current exchange rate. 12 magazines equals about $78.00 but you are asked to pay almost a whopping 120 bucks. With that said....

The magazine is good. It is nice to read about Continental (European) layouts along with some American layouts that were built by Europeans. The paper and photos are high quality gloss all the way far superior to Model Railroader considering the price. The BIG negative... VERY SMALL layouts generally speaking, sometimes end to end book shelf runs. This as opposed to the MR layouts that are impossible to build because no one owns a 65' x 32' space.

In addition the magazine does have a section that reviews models as well as the annual review of all the manufacturer's releases at the Nürnberg Toy Fair. The only problem with this review section is that there never seems to be a bad review about any product. As a collector and modeller, I know full well that is not the case and is in fact pure fantasy.

I recommend this magazine, I just doubt anyone (including myself) will renew their subscription after 1 year.

Continental Modeler is an excellent magazine both in terms of quality and variety. Where else can you find model railways from the USA, France, India and Switzerland all in the same issue? The photography is superb and the writing a little less serious than RM or Model Railroader, but the skill levels are nevertheless high. I am also an enthusiast of the the smaller shelf layouts and most of the layouts featured are compact, focusing on one or two highly detailed scenes rather than vast basement empires. There are also some interesting railfan type articles of the real thing which adds to the breadth of this publication. Each one is a good read.
