This magazine is really about three guys; Trasborg, Hazel, and Cappa (Don't forget about Randy's Electrical Corner and the good Doctor's) and their obsession with everything Jeep. Their knowledge of all models is vast. They do throw in the various weird metaphors on things and they are often funny and are obiviously just some stuff that they thought was real funny when they wrote it. "I guess you had to be there when we wrote it" kind of jokes.

This magazine is mainly for the Jeep owner that enjoys (loves and dreams about it) working on Jeeps, fabricating parts, and knows a thing or two about auto repair. The writers are very experienced, so sometimes details are left out of write ups; which is a given due to page space. They will usually publish an article every month or so that will get down to the basics on a common Jeep problems or where to start with a basic build. The subscription is cheap. These guys also introduce new products regurarly from the ever changing Jeep aftermarket. They also keep in mind cost of modifications/repairs and the fact that the average reader is probably middle class with a family. I will probably be a lifetime subscriber. Side note: the letters to editor are usually funny. Especially the on going "Jeep Chix" fiasco. Don't worry, girls in bikini's standing by Jeeps are actually very rare and usually only on one page, but they seem to make everybody mad when published. Industry news is very informative also.

IF YOU HAve a jeep, then this is the magazine you wanna get! i didnt know that this magazine was only for jeeps until after receiving my first issue...i was happily surprised beings that i have a YJ jeep wrangler...the other magazines cover many other 4wd vehicles and not just jeeps, so you have to take what you want from them, kinda like a buffet. i love the tips the magazine gives, and i have used a couple of them i read in it while out muddin'!

Green Magazine

This publication has been in business for over 24 years and whenever I call to order items or renew, they are friendly and my order is taken care of very promptly. Articles and ads are informative and useful for those who want to restore their tractor, or just find a gift item for a John Deere enthusiast. The magazine is mailed monthly and always mailed on time to hopefully deliver when it should to my mailbox. Over the years the issues just increase in pages, with articles and advertising needed to find parts, services, or other items.

I am a relatively new owner of an antique John Deere tractor, but not new to restorations of antique cars. I was looking for a magazine with lots of restoration tips, lots of dealers for "those hard to find parts" and lots of photos of old tractors, farm machines, etc. This magazine seems to have all these qualities to some degree at least. It just needs more of everything to make it a 5 star rating for me.

I have noticed this magazine seems to be mostly ads and has very little content. I have read it a few times but do not think it is worth subscribing . I also noticed some errors in some of the advice given. I want more accurate information than this provides for restoring my tractor.

Taste of Home (1-year auto-renewal)

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to this company...they will try to advance bill you for stuff you didn't order. I placed and paid for a one year subscription from Amazon.com ($5). After that I received a few bills from them for an annual cookbook I didn't order..when I didn't fall for their advanced billing tactic they then sent a letter from an "in house" collection agency called North Shore Agency. When I called to complain they "forgave" my balance and said I didn't owe them anything. This appears to be one of those scams where they fraudulent bill you and then try to scare you into paying for something you didn't order. Calls to customer service were nothing but a run around..IF YOU ORDER BEWARE!!

Taste of Home came out in the early 90's...I think. I even have a copy of the original issue. I was a fan/subscriber, back in the day. I loved the concept of the magazine...absolutely no ads, pictures of all recipes, and different contests, such as the recipe contest and finding the hidden "toothpick". They also had a section for "Can You Help Me?" where other subscribers put in requests for certain recipes and readers could reply to them. There were so many unique features about this magazine, that made me fall in love with it. I subscribed for a number of years. I'm not sure when the magazine decided to change everything. Without knowing these deletions and additions, I ordered the magazine recently. I just got my first magazine. And nothing is like I remembered. There are ads, and articles, and none of the things I remember. I just went through the issue that came and I pulled out two recipes (out of the whole issue) that I would possibly make. What an absolute waste of a great concept for a magazine. Taste of Home...you've really disappointed me. I won't be renewing my subscription.

Why didnt they leave well enough alone, i hate TOH now, too much stupid advertising...i miss looking for the toothpick. I will not be renewing my membership, after 10 yrs... Hopefuly they get the hint and go back to the older versions.

I subscribed to this magazine a few years ago and it was wonderful. I haven't subscribed in several years but decided my mom would love this so I ordered it for her birthday. She just received her 2nd copy and I checked it out while at her house. It was horrible. What happened to this magazine? It was thin, the recipes were nowhere near as good as in years past. Even the recipe cards were useless. I was embarassed that I got her this for her birthday. I will NOT be renewing.

This magazine is definitely not the Taste of Home (TOH) it used to be. I had a subscription but did not renew because the recipes are not as good, the content has changed, there are more ads and it just isn't as enjoyable to read. It's OK but not what I expect from Taste of Home. From reading the other reviews Im not the only person who feels this way. If you are new to TOH and aren't comparing it to the older TOH you may not be as disappointed by the current publication.

Decibel

This is my favorite magazine right now. This is the magazine that I always get excited about when it comes in the mail. Decibel is obviously written by people who are big music fans in general, but love extreme metal music. These are the people who can see a lot of music journalists for the wankers they are and that bands like Slayer, Carcass, Jesu, and Converge deserve as much, if not more respect than popular bands like Talking Heads, Nirvana, and Radiohead.

One of the best things about this magazine is how it covers all genres and eras. They'll do a profile of some obscure grindcore or doom metal band or a band that is just doing something entirely new. And they do cover stories on popular older bands like Iron Maiden, but then they'll do a cover story on bands that might not be that popular, but are still some of the best out there, like Pig Destroyer and Pelican. So they try to have something for everyone here. There's some good articles for people who aren't huge metalheads and plenty of stuff here for people that want to dig a little deeper. But what they don't do, at least not for a while now, is do cover stories on popular bands that just kinda suck. Their cover story on Trivium has become a joke among the magazine's readers and writers and doesn't look to be something that will be repeated.

Reviews are usually well written. They're not afraid to give out a couple of 9's to the albums that deserve them each month. These, as well as pretty much everything else in the magazine, are usually written with a lot of humor, but you can still tell these are people who genuinely love this music. Also they review a lot of different stuff. You might see Cannibal Corpse, Jesu, Queens of the Stone Age, and even really inventive heavy hip hop like Dalek in the same issue.

The magazine's most popular feature is probably the Hall of Fame. This is an article in each issue where they induct a classic album into their Hall of Fame by interviewing every band member involved in the making of it. The interviews are usually really informative and often include some funny anecdotes.

Another good article is Call and Response where they send seven mp3s labeled only by song title to a different musician and ask for their opinion on them. This usually leads to musicians just totally trashing other bands, sometimes bands they're friends with. Other times, it shows you just how insanely knowledgeable some of these guys are about these bands.

Anyway, this review is already going on pretty long, but there are so many things I like about this magazine. There's always some interesting articles and it's always turning me onto good music. And it's pretty funny too. Check it out.

This Mag is the best out there in my opinion for extreme metal lovers. The deal I recieved for suscribing was awesome! money well spent.

Love the reviews and different suggestions for bands they have in the magazine. I like reading about the album reviews because it helps me get a view about new bands and bands I've never heard of before. Flexidiscs are cool if you have a player for them, nice add-on that makes this magazine unique. Basically if you like metal and lots of it, your $30 a year is safe with these guys.

I've been looking for a good music magazine for a long time and i've finally found it! Decibel features awesome bands on a monthly basis. Just been warned you won't find any Velvet revolver or slipknot in its contents, and that's a good thing! Decibel writes about bands worth finding more about and who aren't just the flavour of the week. It has good articles and it's also very well put together and visually pleasing. I eagerly await getting the new issues every month. If you're a music lover you need to buy a copy of decibel, because you won't be dissapointed.

Decibel has made me believe in magazine again. I'm like a 3 year old that just got home from the toy store when my new issue of Decibel comes. I can't wait to read it and see what obscure bands I've never heard about will be in there, and also interested in the cover stories on some of the best in Metal. Along with in-depth interviews, Decibel Hall of Fame, reviews that are of great quality, and what seems to be an unstoppable writing output, I will subscribe to this magazine as long as its around.
