Gun Digest (1-year)

Gun DigestAs a Certified Glock Armorer who does the Gun Show circuit, I am quite versed on the Glock. This publication keeps me informed on the various other brands of guns, accessories, and ammuniton prices. It's frequent publication is both a good thing and a bad thing. Yes, it's a little more current (as current as print work can be), but the frequency in the mail box means I probably only read about every other issue. If you are into a specific shooting sport or hunting, there are other publications for you, but this is a good general knowledge publication.

It took five weeks from date of ordering to receiving my first copy so you must be patient. However when it arrived, I was very pleased. Good articles, lots of gun-related classifieds, this will be a fun read. The quality of the paper is what you would expect in this type of biweekly publication, just a little better than newsprint and so the quality of the illustrations isn't up to the annual "Gun Digest" publication but this is only to be expected.

I subscribe to this magazine for my husband. As a gun enthusiast, he reads each issue cover to cover as it provides reliable information for many types of firearms.

Its ok reading material. There's alot of ads but it's not too bad I guess, even better if you live where most of the ads seem to be from.

Before the internet with auctions and sales sites this was your source for selling gun and gun related items as well as gun show dates. A lot of sellers have jumped ship for the easier electronic sales tools, but this this is still my favorite. Paper sales allow you to circle , with a pencil, or make note. To keep up with trends of items of your interest as well as sales of all interested items. Call me oldfashioned but throw away the batteries and unplug the power. I just love paperback versions of sales. Try it for awhile if you,ve been away, caught up in the email world, and see how much you will love this style. You will find yourself waiting for the mailman to deliver your next issue.

Schoener Wohnen

Schoener WohnenI've been subscribing to this magazine on and off for two decades! Mostly because I love modern design and architecture, but also because I like to practice my German. It's inspirational and a great resource if you love modern design.

I subscribed and read more than 3 years when I studyed interior and now I found never stale. I compare a lot of interior magazine in the world and pick up this to purchase caused by match the color and modernism with my taste.

Maybe it's because my name is Obermeyer or maybe it's because my husband is an architect--but this magazine has the answer every time I go looking for the right table, chair, sofa. Not only do I see it, I know where to find it and I don't speak German. It's like buying cutting-edge clothing on European stays--10 years later, it's still great. Good design lasts forever. Our furniture bought in the 70's is here and major. We even still have a magazine from the 60's with a beautiful German Christmas. And this year we had to have a Poggenpohl kitchen. Yes, we love this magazine, thank you.

I discovered this magazine features items from their own store mostly. There is only 1 issue during the year that is worth the subscription. This is the issue where it presents next year's trends and forecasts. The magazine is OK, but I felt it was very repetitive in its loud colors room set ups. I did not renew my subscription.

chickaDEE

chickaDEEMy daughter has been reading ChickaDee for several years. We generally don't buy magazines, but each time we went to the library, she chose this one from a selection of 20+ others that target children. Because it is one of her favorite things to read, I'm caving-in this year and purchasing it as a Christmas present. ChickaDee is not only educational, but it is highly entertaining and appeals to a nice age-range, particularly for 6 and 7-year-olds who may have outgrown the preschool magazines but are not quite old enough for magazines that target the intermediate grades. As a former teacher, I also recommend this magazine for classroom, silent-reading use. It contains loads of interesting educational content.

First off, it is difficult to find quality kids magazines without loads of advertising. This has NONE!

I started my niece on Chirp when she was 5 and she moved up to Chickadee last year. She threw a fit that I was changing her subscription because she loves all the age appropriate stories and activities so much, but as soon as the first issue of Chickadee arrived, she fell in love all over again. She loves crafts and gets plenty of ideas from the magazine. (Most she is able to do on her own, but there are some that the magazine tells kids to ask for a parent's help) The puzzles are challenging for her, but not so difficult that she cannot complete them. She also likes the cartoons and articles. I've even heard arguments about her 11 year old brother sneaking her magazine to read the articles in it.

Her parents also put the publisher's website on her approved list so she can go play some of their online games.

I'd definitely recommend this magazine for any child with well rounded interests.

We started with a subscription to Chirp for my daughter which she loved. Now that she is older, she receives Chickadee. When the magazine comes in the mail, she stops to read it from cover to cover. Well worth it! I now give subscriptions as a gift for birthdays.

Do Not Subscribe Through Amazon!!!

I attempted to subscribe to this magazine as a gift. Amazon got the shipp[ing address wrong and now won't change it -it's up to the magazine. Amazon also won't cancel the subscription and if you want to talk to Amazon you get routed to a phone bank in Bangalore where nobody knows anything or can do anything. After forty minutes of being passed from one terribly polite but completely ineffectual gentleman to another, i was cut off.

I might buy something from Amazon again, but i would not advise anybody to subscribe to any magazine through them. Find the address and pho=ne online and go directly to the publisher.

Also, Amazon does not send gift announcement cards. They won't cancel subscriptions once entered, even if your first issue is months away. They won't offer any explanation for high-handed nonsense like this, and if you want to complain you might as well pick up a shoe and yell into it, because tht's about as much satisfaction as Amazon will give you.
