Classic Motorsports
Classic Motorsports (and it's sister publication, Grassroots Motorsports) are independently owned. They are not part of some huge media conglomerate. It's owned and written by real gearheads, and it shows on every page.
JoelWe get several magazines at my house, I typically thumb through them, read an article or two, and they get thrown out. Last Christmas my wife bought me a two year subscription to Classic Motorsports. As a British car nut, I knew that Grassroots Motorsports had purchased British Car Magazine to form Classic Motorsports but had not read the new magazine.
Classic Motorsports has every bit of the coverage on British cars that Brit Car did, the bonus is the coverage of cars I haven't read about. I find myself looking forward to reading about old Alfas, Datsuns and Volvos on top of my beloved British cars. There is coverage on the US cars, but the balance is dead on.
So if you like classic sports cars, and are looking for information outside of the typical pony car mags, check out Classic Motorsports. Every issue I find that I read every article, and reread many. Classic Motorsports was my best Christmas present of 2005.Ok, I love cars but when I read some car magazines I'm left feeling like I could never afford to drive those cars. I wonder how many people find a review of a $125K car worth while..... If you have that kind of disposable funds do you really care what some editor says about the car?
This magazine and its sister publication is for guys like me who want to know how they can be part of the sport without using the kids college fund!
Ok, now the negative.....it only comes out 8 times a year!

Classic Motorsports Magazine and its sister publication Grassroots Motorsports are in my mind two of the best automotive publications out there. The articles are very informative, and written in a way that any enthusiast will enjoy them. No matter what their level of ability is. Reading these two magazines is like sitting in the garage listening to a friend tell you of their latest automotive adventures. This in itself would be enough to make them a must buy for me.(...)I used to have to buy British magazines to get information on the classic cars that I was interested in. I still buy them, but Classic Motorsports has been added to my 'must buy' list each month. Why? It's the only American classic car magazine that focuses on my interestsclassic European sports cars in America. The mix is always interesting, the articles informative, the editorial columns are entertaining and the photography is terrific. Couldn't ask for a better magazine to serve the needs of the classic sports car community in the US. Now that they are expanding to do more coverage of Japanese cars as well it just keeps getting better.

Give Us This Day
I am so happy I did! It is a wonderful tool for daily prayer, with morning and evening prayer, plus the readings for daily Mass. It also has incredibly beautiful and thought-provoking reflections. I also love "Blessed Among Us"... it's so inspiring to hear how others have lived out their calling to serve the Lord.
I actually let my subscription run out awhile back and really felt the difference in my spiritual life. I know some folks are great with daily prayer on their own, but I'm someone who really needs a "guide" of sorts. As a busy mom of 4 sweet young kiddos, it is so wonderful to just open to the day and read, even if it's only for a few minutes; I always feel so much better after I do so.
Lastly, I'd like to address the idea that Give Us This Day has some sort of political agenda, with the underlying message seeming to be that Give Us This Day is at odds with Church teaching. I could not disagree more. I am faithful to the Magisterium (even when it is difficult for me to do so... hence 4 babies in 6 years), and I did not see any sort of "red flags" with the reflections or "Blessed Among Us". (In fact, I rather enjoyed reading about people who were outside the sphere of canonized saints!) More importantly, I have found nothing in the magazine that runs counter to Church teaching whatsoever.
There is room for personality among faithful Catholics. Some of us love Fr. Martin, others prefer Scott Hahn. (I actually like both!) I think as long as we hold Christ and the Church He founded as our center, we can disagree on the other, more secondary stuff without resorting to name-calling, right? We are all Catholics; we should stand as one, I think, and not get bogged down by in-fighting.

A family member gave me this as a gift subscription. I have read this magazine for over a year, now. I am a professional Catholic intellectual and am thoroughly familiar with the saints, Church calendar, etc. It is obvious that the editors have a political agenda. At least weekly there is a "Blessed Among Us" biography of a "saintly" person (sometimes they are political figures who had no connection to the Catholic Christian faith at all). The subtle, faith-poisoning, underlying schema of this magazine is "the Church was all backwards and wrong in the 'bad old days' (you should study some history if you actually believe that) and now we suddenly enlightened people are going to bring it all kinds of wisdom from everywhere except Christ and the apostles" so the Church can 'catch up' to our own shallow outlook.I am going to be canceling my subscription as soon as possible. It might offend my family member if they find out, but I can't in conscience continue to support this magazine, even indirectly.I find the format of this periodical very helpful in helping me focus on daily prayer and meditation. I especially like the brief essays that help to tie together the themes of the daily Mass.

What a disappointment; don't waste your money, as it's 90% ads. A shadow of the 1980's/90's publication. Two thumbs down :(Want Sports Collectors Digest (1-year auto-renewal) Discount?
The content of this magazine is impressive. I was disappointed with the pamphlet-size of the mag. I was used to the 12"x15" editions of the 90s. As my eyesight has gotten worse, the print size has decreased. Or, as the print size has gotten smaller, my eyesight has deteriorated.
