Review of Metaphysics

Review of Metaphysics"The first issue should arrive in 12-16 weeks." Sure, why not? The ROM is a quarterly, after all.

But after six monthsand after your "Where's my subscription?" e-mails get ignoredyou look at this part that you neglected to pay enough attention to before: "Cancellation: This magazine subscription cannot be canceled or refunded."

And then you realize Amazon has stolen your money, and is quite satisfied with that state of affairs.

Not only that, but when you click on the "Read more" button, you get a pop-up announcing that "Some publishers of professional or trade magazine subscriptions do not allow cancellations." Therefore, avers Amazon, adding insult to injury, 'tis not we but the Review who have robbed thee.

The Review of Metaphysics has a toll-free number through which you can order directly. Use it. Avoid being robbed by Amazon.

As a member of the staff of the Review of Metaphysics, I can vouch for the quality of our product. If you have a scholarly interest in metaphysical questions and you do not confine your interest to any one historical period or school of thought, then the Review is exactly right for you. You can order directly from our website and avoid the wait that Amazon causes. We offer discounts to senior and students and we will ship to non-US customers if they pay an additional $12 for shipping.

But of course, it's all the same to us if you go through Amazon, they will, after all, handle the billing for you.

The reason I give my own journal four stars is because of its narrow topic area. I must admit, that for the most part, this is not a layman's journal, but one designed for those that know the terminology of Aristotle, Aquinas, Hegel, Heidegger, etc and who already know the lay of the metaphysical landscape.

I totally disagree with the posting made by this gentleman.

All the years I am ordering through Amazon, I have never experience anything wrong as regards my orders and payments. I always got what I paid for !

Amazon is a great Store and I recommend it to all.

High Times

High TimesNo other magazine has been spreading the word as long as this one has in the face of a government sponsored terrorist movement.

Prohibition has never worked and never will.

## People will look back in a 100 years and wonder why people allowed the truth about marijuana be allowed to be denied for so long. ##

If you want to learn how to grow pot buy some of the books that are advertised in this magazine.

If you want to stay up to date on the latest grow tactics then buy it.

** Face it, would you rather face a bunch of drunks in an alley or a bunch of pot heads stoned? **

When you consider how Washington and Jefferson used to write to each other and talk about various pot plants you wonder how it all went so wrong. Lincoln, Clinton and Obama have smoked pot. Kennedy also. So why it is still illegal is amazing. Our government just doesn't want to admit it was wrong.

The history of how Franklin Roosevelt made it illegal to help out the DuPont tree/paper industry is interesting.

But all in all, no other magazine has stood up to our government when it comes to your right to choose how to live your life as much as this one.

....publications such as these are essential. The growing tips, pictures, articles, everything....are professional, timely, and educational. I don't use, I don't grow, but I have patients who HAVE to have medical marijuana and the information is priceless. Enjoy!

I love to give magazines as a gift, because it's the gift that keeps giving all year long. I searched far and wide for a subscription to High Times for my step-brother. The best deal that I could find by far was here on Amazon.

High Times is a very imformative magazine of a niche genre. There are a lot of advertisements in this magazine, but they're all worth browsing at. Very interesting indeed.

Got my first issue, took about a month,no biggie.By buying it this way you save more then half a issue.Plus the fact they are just getting hard to find in my area.Comes discreetly wrapped.

Want High Times Discount?

If you like pot culture you will like this magazine. I gave it a 4 star rating because it does have a lot of advertisments but its usually for cool glass pipes or papers or stuff like that. I have bought some of the other cannabis magazines and some are better then hightimes but hightimes does have good articles on how to grow and keeps you up to date on the latest methods and styles of growing.

With the legalization in colorado and washington i can see this magazine getting more and more popular. At this price on Amazon you cant go wrong. I think this magazine is deffently worth a buy

Essence (1-year auto-renewal)

EssenceI love reading Essence magazine, I am happy I can now read it on my kindle fire. I recommend this

This is the only magazine I read regularly in college (25 years ago) that I still read now. Great articles on all kinds of issues and they do try to cater to black women from ages 20 to 55 or so which is not easy. Lately, it's been a little flat -both in terms of magazine size and in the depth of the articles. I'm renewing it one more year and hope it improves during that time

"Essence Magazine" is a well-rounded magazine that covers issues pertaining to women from various backgrounds. Tyler Perry is on the front cover and there is a special feature of Gabby Douglas on page 70, along with some of the other Olympic winners. Additionally, the November 2012 issue features women with different and engaging political beliefs on page 82. The following are the women featured: Daryl Joy Walters, Mary L. Washington, Montica Talmadge, Jennifer Carroll and Jennifer Burke. It is implied on the side of the magazine that African American women come first when it comes to "Essence Magazine". I confirmed part of my own African American ancestry when I recently discovered that my late paternal grandmother was an African American woman who was originally from Birmingham,Alabama. However, this magazine is also great for those from various backgrounds due to some of the universal themes covered in "Essence" (such as the articles on the secret of giving and ideas for the Thanksgiving holiday).

I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription. Ever since Time Warner Publishing acquired Essence, it seems to be cantering to dark-skinned white women and NOT Black women.

Baseball America

Baseball AmericaI didn't refer to Baseball America as such. It was Cardinals GM Walt Jocketty who said it. And who am I to contradict? The best columnists in the game, from Peter Gammons, Tracy Ringolsby and Jayson Stark, to detailed information in ALL of baseball, from the Major Leagues to Japan, stats, scores, and the best and most extensive resource on prospect information, there's not a single serious fan in all of baseball who deserves such a title if is not a Baseball America subscriber. You got to read it if you want to know the stars of tomorrow (being tomorrow 6 years or 2 months). Top 10 prospects from every team till its massive Top 100 list, Baseball America covers it all. I know, I have been subscribed for 2 years now, and I can't think of living without it!

I received "free" access to the BA web page (all links) with my subscription...however, about every 3rd time I logged on, my username was declared invalid. I had to contact them several times before the problem was fixed. (It was fixed three times, and then it would fail again). The customer service people were friendly and helpful, but it was a little painful to have to keep asking for help.

Outside of that this is a great publication for people that are into fantasy baseball leagues that allow you to draft minor leaguers or "long term keeper" leagues....or if you are just a fan of baseball and really like to learn a lot about the up and coming player.

I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the internet problem.....

Buy Baseball America Now

In my opinion, this is the best baseball magazine there is out there. Every other week readers are privy to the same information that general managers and scouts receive on their desks. As the title reads, it's about "Baseball America" not just the major leagues but about the entire sport. A real dream for any true fan. Every year the top prospects from the minors to high school are covered. There is great team by team analysis and opinion. And of course, plenty of major league news. One little section that I forgot to mention is the obituaries. Yes; obituaries! Just to give even more of an indication as to how deeply this sport is covered, obituaries of past major and minor leaguers are provided for the true baseball historian. A great magazine that no true fan should be without. And if there isn't enough reason for you to get it, subscribers can now access the online edition!

Baseball America offers the most comprehensive coverage in amateur baseball from high school to AAA. Additionally, they offer excellent international and major league reporting. From casual observers to diehard fans to execs within the game, Baseball America has been the #1 source for information and the best in the business for over 25 years.

I have read Baseball America off and on over the years and finally took the plunge and got a subscription. This is the best place to get coverage of the minors, college, and high school baseball so you know about the top prospects before others do.

Kerrang - England

Kerrang - EnglandThis International magazine should be refered to as the Blue-Book of good metal Music... Forget all of those "Boy-Metal" bands like creed or Linkin Pork...They have quality bands like Soulfly, Messhugha, Machine Head, etc... Plus great book, movie, and video game reviews...(if your into that)The only down fall is the $$ Price $$ but, you get your money's worth!

Kerrang! is by far the most informative rock magazine that has ever been published! I can count on Kerrang! to get the best interviews, be up to date, and get the facts straight from the mouths of the musicians. Its a hard to find magazine in the US, but if you can spare the money it is well worth your dollar if your intereseted in the world of hard rock. They also cover a wide range of bands that the US wouldn't even touch, and are always turning you on to new music with free CDs.

Buy Kerrang - England Now

I have had nothing but problems with getting this magazine. Numerous emails to the publisher and clearly they have no idea what they are doing. Missed 6 issues straight. I wouldn't bother subscribing to this unless you enjoy getting a headache.

NYLON (1-year auto-renewal)

NYLONI first picked up a copy of Nylon in Chicago, while browsing the newsstands. I wasn't sure if I would like it--years of subscribing to Vogue, Elle, and some stupid tweeny magazines had almost put me off magazine-reading for good. And yet I always manage to be drawn to the racks.

Nylon was different from the get go. They always feature unknowns on the cover, and when, on occassion, a well-known celebrity is featured, the stories give us a new perspective on them.

Nylon is worth purchasing for the layout in itself. I could spend hours paging through each feature, marveling at the graphics, and the way the magazine is put together. I love how they base some of the beauty section on famous movies or bands.

Nylon also makes a point of covering bands, movies, and fashion designers that, until now, have remained obscure. Everything they feature is amazing--most of the music they recommend ends up on my Amazon wishlist!

I would highly recommend Nylon to anyone and everyone. This obscure magazine will stun you with its amazing artistic layout, and introduce you to new products you may have never discovered.

I got this free the other day and I've been having a hard time getting through it. Expensive fashion and makeup, with some articles on music that focus on the band members' preference for skinny jeans. British cosmetic brands they wish were available here? Hotels with great spas? I'm not sure who the target audience is.

Buy NYLON (1-year auto-renewal) Now

After reading a few of these I realized that Nylon is just a rich hipster kid reference manual.

I decided to subscribe to this mag after one of my faves, Amber Tamblyn started writing a monthly column. Offbeat and never boring, Nylon brings you all the stuff that the other "fashion" rags skip over. Written for smart, web-savvy readers who want to know more than where to buy the next up and coming handbag. With a lot of collage-type pictorials, you'll never be bored. A lot of vintage stuff as well; "background checks" are great. Many web references for you to surf to as well. Defiantely a thinking-gals guide to fashion, media and music.

Want NYLON (1-year auto-renewal) Discount?

PRO: Nylon is a visual feast. Just looking through it is highly stimulating and inspiring from a design/artistic point of view. The lay-out is clean, fresh, and unique. There is a big emphasis on indie/alternative art, film, music, fashion, and literature. I found Nylon through a long internet search for an intelligent, artistic womens' mag, and it is just that.

CONS: NY-LON stands for New York and London respectively, which gives one a big hint about the target audience. Heh heh. I live in middle America, and I don't have access to the kind of brands, restaurants, bars, shops, etc. so touted by this magazine. One issue was exclusively centered around London... yeah, I can really relate. Not. Magazines like Seventeen are MUCH better about featuring merchandise and content applicable to females of every socio-economic background and location.

IN CONCLUSION: In my opinion, the positives highly outweigh the negatives. I don't regret subscribing. I always love getting my Nylon in the mail. Get this magazine if you want to subscribe to a girl magazine, but you don't want to go the usual cosmo, vogue, 17 route.

Petersen's Bowhunting (1-year auto-renewal)

Petersen's BowhuntingIf this isnt the best bowhunting magazine out there Id like to know which one is.

All bowhunting all the time.

I renewed my hubby's subscription to this magazine through Amazon. It's one of his faves, and I'd rather have hunting mags on the back of the toilet than what could be there. LOL. I love the convenience of Amazon, and the magazines autorenewal is just icing on the cake!

When my husband was young he did a little archery hunting. He's retired now and decided to take it up again. He's been on two hunting trips. The first trip he got himself his first deer. The second trip he wasn't as lucky. He's been enjoying reading stories of the techniques other archery hunters use.

Antique Power Magazine

Antique Power MagazineI love old tractors. Old cars, old engines, old farm equipment. And frankly, I'm not that old myself. I have a tractor in the yard that's 20 years my elder, however, and I love having it around. Antique Power Magazine takes you on a nationwide tour of what used to be the ubiquitous solution to Getting Things Done. From little garden tractors that would be dwarfed by today's "riding mowers" (and unlike the modern mowers, those little garden tractors could still pull a small plow) to mighty old steam traction engines, they're all part of this country's post-industrial history. And it's just brilliant stuff from collections as described by the owners, to the complicated, tortuous corporate histories, to sneak peeks at models seldom if ever seen by the public.

I gave a subscription of this magazine as a gift...for someone I LIKE. That ought to point up how highly I regard it.

Outstanding magazine if yu love old tractors this magazine is for you, not only contains great stories but very useful tips
