The magazine is top notch, but you can subscribe via one of the little post card inserts for 12 months for $24.00. Just an FYI in case you don't really feel the need to shell out $50.

This is not a review of the magazine by any means. The magazine is absolutely fabulous. Articles are well written. Photography is top notch. But you don't need to pay $45 for a year subscription. I didn't know that when I excitedly ordered my subscription here. Go out and buy yourself a $5 issue and take one of those postcard sized subscription requests. Send it in and get a full year for $18.

It's worth the $45 but why pay more if you don't have to?

I wish I had been a little more patient when I decided to subscribe. Just goes to show that Amazon and its affiliates aren't always offering the best bang for your buck.

In you can read in French, this magazine is the best to find out what is happening in Paris.... not only for shopping or restaurants which are always perfect there, but also for cultural events, photographic exposition, museums.... and the indescriptible French savoir faire!!!!....

Aibrush Action is dedicated to the art form for all levels of skill. All users of airbrushes will find good info in every magazine. I have been airbrushing for 5 years and I have subscribed to the magazine for three. I like the publication because it has product reviews, "hands-on how to" articles, excelant trade member submisions, heads-up on new trends and finally the ppl that write the magazine are PRACTICING airbrushers.

The zine has evolved over the years and is just as hard core airbrushing as it was "way back when" as it is now. The presentation of the articles just gets a bit slicker each year. The product reveiws are honest. If somebody sends them a pice of junk then they right a nice "nasty gram" about it even if that junk is advertised in that very months issue! The editers have grit! And, if they strike gold the share the wealth, too. They are not stingy with good info.

Once a year the zine has a projecter, airbrush, aircompressor, paint product cross reference info chart. I.e. if your into this then you might want to check this configuration out. It'very handy to have. I have switched from one brand of acrylic paints to another with much appreciated results. (Both brands were good, just one had a better aplication towards what I wanted to accomplish at the time)

Any waythe skinny on this subject is: before you buy a set up if you are a novice, then buy this zine first before you spend alot of cash. If you make a living in the A.B. world then you need this publication so you can make more cash. This zine represents ppl from all areas of airbrushing, from fine art illustraters to ultra cool death metal bikes. Heck, some ppl get it just for the cool art in it.

I Cannot belive how long its taking to recive this magazine. I tryed purchessing it last year by check but after 5 months of waiting I cancled the order. Now I ordered it again this time using a creditcard hopeing it would arrive sooner but here its is 2 months later and still nothing and to top it off they keep pushing back the estimated delivery date. I have to say how unhappy I am with this.

I have ordered this magazine for years and it does have some good articles. But be warned, they are often excerpts from videos or hocking products produced by the company. At least 75% of the mag is straight ads. It seems like they are always hocking their getaways or endless compressor/projector reviews. It reminds me of Hot Rod a lot, long on pretty pictures, light on hands on advice.

This is by far the most complete resource for the hot glass artist. Plenty of technical info and eye candy. Keep it goin!!!

This magazine is great, but has little for beginning or intermediate beginners. Except for the 'Wow!' factor, of course. Articles are well written, good info on hot glass gatherings and education, photos are amazing eye-candy that can almost have you dabbing the drool off your chin. They try hard to make sure boro workers are shown making things other than pipes, which is nice, although they do include that art form as well. The soda-lime/soft glass workers are well represented too: beads, sculpture, tips, tutorials nothing that a beginner could manage, but education starts somewhere, as does inspiration. I have yet to show magazine to anyone w/o several 'Wow' responses to the works shown in the photos, even those who haven't the foggiest what's involved in making the pieces.

High Times

No other magazine has been spreading the word as long as this one has in the face of a government sponsored terrorist movement.

When you consider how Washington and Jefferson used to write to each other and talk about various pot plants you wonder how it all went so wrong. Lincoln, Clinton and Obama have smoked pot. Kennedy also. So why it is still illegal is amazing. Our government just doesn't want to admit it was wrong.

The history of how Franklin Roosevelt made it illegal to help out the DuPont tree/paper industry is interesting.

But all in all, no other magazine has stood up to our government when it comes to your right to choose how to live your life as much as this one.

....publications such as these are essential. The growing tips, pictures, articles, everything....are professional, timely, and educational. I don't use, I don't grow, but I have patients who HAVE to have medical marijuana and the information is priceless. Enjoy!

High Times is a very imformative magazine of a niche genre. There are a lot of advertisements in this magazine, but they're all worth browsing at. Very interesting indeed.

If you like pot culture you will like this magazine. I gave it a 4 star rating because it does have a lot of advertisments but its usually for cool glass pipes or papers or stuff like that. I have bought some of the other cannabis magazines and some are better then hightimes but hightimes does have good articles on how to grow and keeps you up to date on the latest methods and styles of growing.

With the legalization in colorado and washington i can see this magazine getting more and more popular. At this price on Amazon you cant go wrong. I think this magazine is deffently worth a buy

London Review of Books (1-year auto-renewal)

Those arriving at this Amazon page doubtless have some interest in books. In reading the reviews I note some disappointment with the contents of the London Review. Maybe if I provide a brief summary of one issue you can decide whether or not this is the book mazazine for you.

About fifty percent of the contributors to a current issue are PhD academics.

Here is a sampling of the articles in this issue:

1. Writers, Readers, and Reputations: Literary Life in Britain 1870 to 1918.

2. A University of Chicago philosophy professor explores philosopher Alisdair McIntyre's conceps of truth and ethics as found in the recently released 2 volumes of McIntyres essays.

3. A review of Kostal's book "A Jurisprudence of Power:Victorian Empire and the Rule of Law".

You like fiction? In this issue you'll find reviews of the books of novelists Edward St. Aubyn, and M.J. Hyland. There is also an article about the German author Gunter Grass who reveals in a book that he was a member of the Waffen SS during WWII. Unfamiliar authors? For me too (except for Gunter Grass). Next month though they will be reviewing American author Richard Ford's new novel. Now him I know.

Rather than write a review of glowing praise or bleak condemnation I thought it best to simply tell you what's in it, and let you make up your own mind if this is the kind of book magazine you would like to read. Like the New York Review of Books you'll find a variety of articles that aren't about a book at all, and some books that are reviewed merely serve as a Hitchockian mcguffin for the reviewer to expand at length his opinions about the subject of the book.

I suppose a hierarchy of book magazines in terms of sophistication might be Bookmarks for the everyday fiction reader (It's a good magazine, in my opinion), and then, a step above, the New York Times Review, on up to the New York Review of Books, and then at the top the London Review of Books. Mind you I am not categorizing these mags in terms of the quality of writing. They all are good. It's just that if you want to be able to enjoy all of the London Review's article it might help if you were a polymath.

The London Review of Books is simply the best generalist journal on topics of literature, the arts, culture, history, politics, philosophy published in the world today--it now beats the NY Review of Books in terms of giving you the full picture and leaves the TLS back in the dust. If you want to get your bearings in the world of culture and politics, this is must reading.

The London Review of Books is, without a doubt the best literary journal in the world: at the same time erudite, entertaining and informative, each issue is a foray into a world of knowledge that is all too lacking in other publications and media. There was a time in my life when I couldn't afford to put my heating on in the bitterly cold British winter, but I never thought to cancel my subscription to the LROB. Highly recommended.

I love books, and I read a great deal. The LROB is the standard for reviewing (as well as NYROB). It's oversized and made of newsprint, and ships in a plastic sleeve...a big deal as the NYROB doesn't and sustains more damage in transit. The personals section is hysterical, and almost worth the subscription price alone for the laughs.

BUT, this is high brow stuff. The books reviewed are generally historic or political, with a few fiction titles thrown in. The articles are in-depth by established authors (Colum McCann, Jonathan Franzen) and often link to other books in the same genre or style. This doesn't cover any mass market titles, and seems to be quite shy of small press publishers as well.

It's a great resource, and a treat to browse, but I still find the best variety and reviews online. And also, it makes you quite jealous for some of the literary events over the pond that you miss out on here in the US...you can only read about the exhibitions and readings and drool.
