Car and Driver (1-year auto-renewal)

Car and DriverC&D was once entertaining, witty, objective and a great read. The staff worked well together and they put out a consistently good magazine. Then it went through some rough years where it got kind of tame and boring. Now, it's an ill fitting mix of new and old writers trying to be fresh and hip while being spoon fed by the car manufactures. The magazine lacks consistency, focus and any sort of clear vision as to what they're about.

C&D mostly seems to print what the biggest manufactures want them to. There have been several articles lately, such as on the new Nissan GT-R and Corvette ZR1, that literally mirror articles in other magazines even featuring some of the same quotes from the same car execs. You might as well go to the manufacture's websites and read their press releases.

There has been a lot of inconsistency in C&D's reviews. One car will be rave reviewed, and 4 issues later, will place near the bottom of a multi-car comparison test. The impression is very much whichever manufacture spends the most on ads, dinners, drinks, and other gratuities, gets top billing regardless of the quality and performance of their vehicles.

Some of the writing is entertaining, but that's offset by the same tired editors (Csere, Bedard, et al.) who largely keep writing the same stuff they've been whining about for a decade or three. The end result comes off as heavily biased, anything but objective, and an awkard mix of writing styles.

My suggestion: Save some trees and just skim the C&D website for their rare entertaining exclusive article and get the rest of your automotive news somewhere else.

Unfortunately, when Csebra...Casasba....Csabsbreaedads, er, forget it, Editor CC took over the reigns, the quality of the mag dropped with it. Readers letters, specifically those with constructive criticism, are often met with sarcastic, child-like responses. There was many a time when I agreed with a reader's letter, only to read CC shoot it down. Where is this man's humility?

The pictures and layout are still good. Some of the covers promise what looks to be an in-depth article, only to find out inside that it's a one or two page affair. All the US car magazines are swamped with ads, keeping our copy price down, the latter of which is nice. But after 16 years of subscription, I chose not to renew in March. I've been looking at recently resurrected Road and Track, and they have really changed their publication from stodgy old-fart affair to a modern, informative read.

Car and Driver doesn't need a new layout. It needs better management.

Can barely contain my disappointment. Snarky mocking editors and perspectives that are simply not helpful or even interesting I went back to C and D and could not have been more disappointed

What is it with all these bad reviews? I was 50/50 on whether to order a subscription to motor trend or car and driver. So I looked at some of the past magazines I had recently purchased (In the last 3 months as of 08/12/10) from motor trend and from car and driver. I went with car and driver, they are better. I read articles over the new 2011 Cobra Mustang in a Car and driver and in the motor trend and it was so much better in car and driver. In car and driver they talked over (I never knew) the cobra mustang isn't great because alot of the weight is in the front of the car because of the engine, and not to mention its rear axle, so on. Motor tend is a great magazine i love it but im only choosing one, if i could get both i would.

Cleveland Magazine (1-year auto-renewal)

Cleveland MagazineI have picked up this magazine a couple of times before where ever I might find them. So I am sitting in my doctor's office and there I am reading the magazine. All of sudden it hits me, "why don't I have a subscription to this magazine"?

Cleveland Magazine is a must have for people in Northeast Ohio if you want to know what is going on. I love it because of how it breaks down the restaurants by type of food, price, location, and even what type of credit cards they accept. This is great for anyone who loves to dine out and is looking for something new to try. It is always a great source for business that you never heard of but are right down the street. It lets you know what festivals are coming up, what out of the way events are going on, and where to party is going to be this month! If you live in Northeast Ohio and you want to get out on the town and try new things or just find out where the hot spots are you need to pick up this magazine, you wont be disappointed!

Solid guide to what's going on in Cleveland as well as well-written articles about the region. If you're moving to Cleveland, pick up a copy so that you begin to understand the wonderful opportunities this region offers.

I ordered Cleveland Magazine months ago and never received any copies. When I inquired about the missing magazine, customer service repeatedly told me that it would be "five business days" to investigate my request. As you can guess, I'm still waiting.

Jewish Currents

Jewish CurrentsJewish Currents is a progressive, secular Jewish bimonthly magazine that carries on the insurgent tradition of the Jewish left through independent journalism, political commentary, and a "countercultural" approach to Jewish arts and literature. Now in its 57th year of publication, J.C. is undergoing a revival and expansion under the leadership of its new editor, Lawrence Bush, whose new column, "Religion and Skepticism," contends playfully with many manifestations of the "spirituality" of contemporary American culture. Other regular columns include "Jewish Women Now," "It Happened in Israel," "Inside the Jewish Community," "Our Secular Jewish Heritage," "Around the World," and "Mameloshn: Yiddish Poetry." The magazine is unique among Jewish publications in its historical awareness, its commitment to diversity and democracy in Jewish life, its readiness to publish fiction and poetry, and the independence and unpretentiousness of its voice. (taken from Jewish Currents website)

Here in North Carolina, Jewish Currents is a life line to Jewish progressive thought. Over the years it has become a full-fleshed, inclusive magazine, well worth the subscription.

Bimmer

BimmerThis is a great magazine for BMW owners. Unlike most of the other magazines on BMW's, which are often published from the UK, this one is printed in the USA and covers a wide range of topics each month on new and older models. One highlight for US owners is that the magazine is full of ads and websites to buy parts and performance upgrades. A quick glance through this magazine and in about 20 minutes I was able to find some parts for my 1987 535is, and at a significant discount!

Typically the articles, photos and tips cover the wide range of models from the 70's, 80's, 90's up through the most recent offerings. While the editorial staff has often been accused of being too biased in favor of the marquee, what would you expect from a BMW magazine? If you are an owner or fan of these "ultimate driving machines" then this publication should be part of your monthly reading.

I was contemplating not renewing my subscription after 1 year...but I could not imagine not getting this very insightful look at BMW cars. I love that they look back on previous BMWs that have been restored or kept in great condition. Anytime there is any kind of Alpina I begin to drool, awesome photography and one of the best features of the zine is the Marketplace watch. If you have a BMW you owe it to yourself to own this magazine!

I do not and have not ever owned a BMW, but this is possibly the best magazine ever. I learn many things every issue. It really is a great read. Too bad it is not monthly. If you are interested in buying a BMW (car) then don't waste any more time, buy this magazine.

It's not that there is anything wrong with this magazine but it just isn't as great as more mainstream car magazines.

Tattoo

TattooMany people ...moan about the articles in this magazine, it is really unfortunate that no one is interested in the tattoo culture as much as the tattoos themselves. I am a collector of tattoos (12 and still going strong), but why get tattoos without knowing about advancements in tattooing, or the awesome people that do it. People who have tattoos should really enjoy the articles, and the people that keep tattooing alive. The culture is as entertaining as the pictures, and if you don't apreciate that than you shouldn't get tattoos. Respect those that make a living sharing their art with the world, don't be close minded and expect only pictures, that's not tattoing or the tattoo world. This is an excellent magazine and I would suggest it to any one!!

If I could have given this magazine a zero star rating. I got one issue from back last year and that was after i complained through amazon then after that i complained 3 more times and they gave me a response email at least but still did not get anymore issues of this magazine. this was the worst purchase i ever got and only time in my 2 years of using Amazon that i wrote a review, but now im bored and just killing time. now im just going to go complain about one more product because dinner hasnt come out yet.

Buy Tattoo Now

I am not alone, read the most current reviews, TATTOO is NOT mailing the subscriptions out and they are not refunding money. It smells like a engineered bankrupcy in progess in my opinion. They offer no explanations, hide behind Amazons policies. READ all the bad reviews. A clear picture of possible fraud and theft is starting to form again this is MY opinion, I am waiting for a refund that is two months over due.

Car - England

Car - EnglandI read several monthly automotive publications and this one is my favourite. The photography and layout are excellent. And the colloquial writing style is fresh and engaging. Kudos especially to Jamie Kitman and Georg Katcher, who both write for American publications as well.

Car is unlike any other auto magazine I've seen. Well written, interesting and useful. The photography is great as well. Most importantly, they seem to have no problem calling a bad vehicle what it is. Too many magazines write great reviews of what are, at best, average products. Perhaps they're afraid of losing advertising?

Buy Car - England Now

I have been reading car magazine for over 25 years and is undoubtedly the best car magazine you can buy. Yes, they are not afraid to loose business calling a bad car for what really is. Although, they have a peculiar tendency of over praising Jaguars and Land Rovers (call it patriotism if you wish).

Every time a new Jaguar or Land Rover comes along they always rated as the new standard on its respective class. The funny thing is that after a while they ALWAYS realize what a big mistake they have made and quietly bury the English entries for what they really are: well designed pieces of junk.

Read Best Reviews of Car - England Here

After reading Car you will be left thinking that english is not the first language of the writers of the US based magazines. The articles are intelligent, clever, and funny. Furthermore, they are not afraid of losing advertisers by saying just how bad a car really is even when they are british cars. Naturally if you are a big fan of Detroit, this is not the magazine for you. Expensive, but worth it.

I've pre-ordered the Kindle Fire primarily to read Top Gear, Evo, Practical Photography on the tablet. Paying $10 a pop for these things is frankly ridiculous.

I still prefer the e-ink screen for real books but you can't beat a nice IPS tablet for Mags.
