Scottish Life

Scottish LifeMy family loves this magazine. If you love Scotland, you will greatly enjoy reading this mag cover to cover! I spend hours reading each episode when they come.

I really love this magazine. I read it cover to cover. I've read several magazines on various parts of the UK and many are very good, but I believe this is the one that I find myself reading completely. Highly recommended.

This is my favorite Scottish magazine. It has news items and wonderful articles about places to visit, unusual occupations and things to do. One of my favorite articles was about Cawdor Castle. Great place to read about Scotland.

"Scottish Life" is an excellent and exceptionally well-written magazine.

Autumn 2011, the latest issue, contains eighty pages. In this issue, two of the main features are regarding Scottish Art, including Andy Scott's monumental art pieces and the newly restored and expanded National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. Both art stories have nice photos, (small and large), and the magazine in general has a fair amount of photos.

There are also short and long stories about ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Different stories involve haggis, bagpiping, whisky, the changing politics, dancing, bird migration, and a village.

Departments include music, books, news, and "Notes From The Isles". The book department has an interesting book review about the historical and prolonged feud between the MacDonalds and the Campbells.

I highly recommend this magazine. It is well worth reading.

Mineralogical Record

Mineralogical RecordI'm into Gemstones and Jewelry Making. My husband is into all types of geology, and he collects mineral specimens. We both love this magazine!!! It is fantastic as the pictures and full detail articles are outstanding. Those pictures, though, really speak for themselves. It's almost like holding the mineral specimen in your own hands....and it's also finding out what's happening on general in the gem/geology world.

Besides, we got so much stuff with this first magazine, a free CD, and other welcome gifts. Even opportunities to order older magazines on specific topics...we've got a few that look very, very tempting.

So far, we are really enjoying this professional magazine. The magazine sells itself. I can't imagine that we'll ever give up this magazine. This is one that you start collecting in your bookcase. The quality is just first rate and exceptionally impecable.

Thanks so much E & C

If you are interested in minerals, this is a great mixture between the hobby and scientific journal. In-Depth profiles of individual mineral locations, special issues, occasionally a complete extra issue as a supplement. The last couple issues have had DVDs from Blue Cap Productions that were $20 each, just thrown in for free because of advertising sponsors. I've been subscribing for the past 7 years.

Excellent photography and articles of some of the most spectacular minerals in the world and where they came from. Photography for this magazine is all of the highest level, displaying world class specimens as works of art. Almost all of the articles are written at a level that anyone with a bit of geology can understand. In addition, many of them are very well researched and would be at home in the more hardcore scientific journals.

Strings

StringsThis mag is a must for players at a bargain price! Bountiful information from performers across a wide spectrum (Cajun, jazz, classical), luthiers and more!

At 60 yrs. old I took up the fiddle a year ago and am having a great time with it. This magazine was instrumental in getting me on the right track. I find the articles on violin helpful even though that isn't my genre. They of course also have articles pertaining to fiddling and even the ads are helpful in knowing what is out there.

This magazine was a gift for an aspiring young artist (the violin) and he's enjoying it tremendously according to his mother. :-)

Rugby World

Rugby WorldThis publication has all the essential news on the world of rugby. Though it is focused on European rugby, and especially English rugby, it is probably the best rugby publication available in the USA. However, the fact that it is published in Europe creates an annoying lag time of about a month. It often previews events that are over by the time the magazine arrives. It is also relatively expensive. None the less, if you are a rugby enthusiast, I highly recommend it.

I love the large pictures and great articles that Rugby World gives me every month. However I have been a little disappointed each time I renew my subscription it takes so long for next issue to arrive. I renewed my subscription in June, it's August now and I still don't have latest issue.

thanks,
