Why 3 stars? Not very thick per a bi-annual issue (few ads!) so rather pricy. I have not done any projects like I have with Woodworker Journal (my #1 choice). One of a few magazines I let the subscription run out.I work in a library, so between my personal subscriptions and the magazines I get to see at work, I read nearly every woodworking magazine in existence each month. I feel that this is one of the best a no nonsense, straight-to-the-projects sort of publication. I appreciate and enjoy both the well written text and the clear and colorful photos, but I think I most appreciate the great selection of projects. All in all, there is something here for most every woodworker. If you are tiring of the lower-end magazines, definitely think about this one. Its a keeper!I know Latin is dead...but now matter buyer beware is always relevant. Woodcraft's magazine is exactly like their store, overpriced for the quality, lacking in many many areas, for example the customer service is horrible and it is plagued with shipping problems and oh yeah like I said before its quality is substandard when compared to the price...there are much finer woodworking magazines out there!

3-D World
Pros: Every issue is packed with tutorials (for several major apps like Max, Maya, Photoshop, etc.), classifieds, industry news, and the latest on every 3d app you can think of. Best of all, every issue comes with a CD containing tons of free stuff (like models, textures and full versions of software, along with great demos of other software).
Cons: Its a bit expensive, but well worth the cost! Printed in the UK, so some of the classifieds are not relevant if your in the US (although they usually have calssifieds for major companies in the US as well).
Go to Books-a-Million and buy one issue to try it out before getting a subscription if your not sure about it because of the cost.I've spent years browsing through 3D World in bookstore newsstands and liked most of what was presented but I was always taken aback by the price.
Six months ago I decided to subscribe to save on per issue price. I have no regrets. In this day and age where Free web articles are copy and pasted into magazines and resold as new, 3D World is still original. So far each issues has managed to deliver solid articles, interviews, and tutorials as well as enlightening angles on related industries. The content on the DVD is top rate so far and does provide valuable content that definitely cuts the cost per copy. For once a magazine is thick because of content not advertising pages.
I'll also not I have not thrown an issue away. I keep the issues and the DVD's for reference. That's a nod to the value in working tutorials + DVD. It's been a very long time since I've saved any issue of any magazine.
I'm primarily a Lightwave, Modo, ZBrush, and Vue user. No Autodesk apps in my tool set. With that noted the magazine still offers great value.
Still The cost.
It's something that will come up each time renewal comes up. So long as the publisher maintain its integrity on content, it will make it an easier decision to renew. Each month, a CD is included with backup material and demo versions of animation software; in addition, the tutorials are well-designed and complete.
Check out the company website -there is an option for quarterly payments.
Again, this is the magazine to beat.

Master Detective
"Master Detective", in the vein of other true crime magazines focuses on real-life crimes both historical [dating back to the past] as well as contemporary stories. The stories are written with insight and clarity and make for easy reading. These stories are further enhanced with the accompaniment of archival photographs to do with the crime scene, the victim/c, the accused, trial etc.
Fans of true crime stories will appreciate these stories, though I have to caution these stories are rather morbid and not for the faint-hearted. It's rather difficult to obtain these magazines locally here in the US, unless one subscribes, and the price isn't exactly cheap. But, it does make for engrossing reading.

Light of Consciousness : Journal of Spiritual Awakening
Buy Light of Consciousness : Journal of Spiritual Awakening Now
This magazine has become my favorite tool for my spiritual awakening. The articles are articulate, heart-felt, and easy to understand. Since they only have four issues a year, you have time to reflect upon each article and get the most from the writer. It also gives me time to read over several times and keep finding new things. I have found so much joy in this subscription and now family members are reading, too. This makes for positive conversation at family dinners. There is no political agenda and the magazine speaks of science as well as spirituality, which I think is important. I will be subscribing as long as they keep writing. Namaste.Read Best Reviews of Light of Consciousness : Journal of Spiritual Awakening Here
