Take Aim Airsoft Magazine - North America

Take Aim Airsoft Magazine - North Americait's only published bi-monthly but has great articles and reviews from all over the nation. very few advertisements, actually wish it had more. looking forward to my next issue!

Airsoft is becoming one of the fastest growing game/sport all across the USA. Living here in the United States there isnt alot of options for Airsoft magazines and if you want a printed one then its even more limited. AI magazine from the UK is the only other magazine that ive been able to find. The price is a little over $100 for a year subscription. I have gotten two magazines from Take Aim by the time that ive written this and I have to say that it lives up to the hype. The magazine is printed on high quality paper with eye poping photos. The articals are of high value. I would compair this to the UKs AI magazine any day. If your looking for a good quality magazine about airsoft then I would highly recomend this to you.

Civil War Courier

Civil War CourierAs an avid Civil War fan and reinactor, I like following all the latest news on the Civil War front. You would be surprised at how much news, articles, stories, book reviews, and latest developments there are on a war that came to a finish well over a century ago. For those of us that still have a strong interest in this tragic but always fascinating time in our nations history, a modern up to date newsletter is a very interesting periodical to have arriving every month in your mailbox. Civil War Courier is one of two such newsletters available for subscription on Amazon currently. The "Courier" and "Civil War News". Having had a subscription to both in the past, I decided to opt for the Courier. It just seems to have a slight edge in its diversity of subjects in my opinion over the CW News. (Plus the Courier is published every month, the News skips one month). I really enjoy this finely written and very informative news letter magazine. And I like the fact that it comes every month. I did take one star off for the Courier can be a little thin at times, (not every month), and I can sometimes run through all its articles and such in less than 20 minutes. But overall I feel it is well worth the price being asked for a yearly subscription. It is always interesting, diverse and up to date, and one of the very few ways that one can keep up on the newest current events, opinions, and discoveries on what is probably the most fascinating chapter of Americas memoirs..... Recommended.

Artforum International

Artforum InternationalAs of December 29, 2010 you can receive a one year subscription to Artforum for $39.00, and that comes with a free year's worth of Bookforum (like Artforum except about books). I signed up for 2 years for $75.00 ($37.50/year). They also said they would "rush" out the November 2010 issue of Artforum for free to all new subscribers.

5 stars because the magazine is great, but definitely buy directly from them instead of going through Amazon.

Ordered 12/14 @ $52 for 12 issues. Found same 12 issues for $39 right in the printed mag. Although it won't ship frm Amazon for another 4 wks, couldn't cancel & go w/lower rate

Master Detective

Master DetectiveMy mother has been collecting various true crime magazines since the 1970s. Master Detective is one title that she has been consistently collecting, mainly because of it's high-quality writing. I have inherited my mother's interest and though I'm not a collector like her, I do try to read these magazines whenever I can gain access to them.

"Master Detective", in the vein of other true crime magazines focuses on real-life crimes both historical [dating back to the past] as well as contemporary stories. The stories are written with insight and clarity and make for easy reading. These stories are further enhanced with the accompaniment of archival photographs to do with the crime scene, the victim/c, the accused, trial etc.

Fans of true crime stories will appreciate these stories, though I have to caution these stories are rather morbid and not for the faint-hearted. It's rather difficult to obtain these magazines locally here in the US, unless one subscribes, and the price isn't exactly cheap. But, it does make for engrossing reading.

Threads

ThreadsThis is a quality magazine with a knowledgable staff. I have never been disappointed with an issue--each one has helpful tips that are explained in detail with examples, good graphical representation, and procedures. A while ago my father-in-law asked me how sewing machines worked, how the threads could connect to work at all, and lo and behold, the next issue of "Threads" explained that very concept in an easy-to-understand way. I like how this magazine covers so many different topics. For example, recent issues covered such items as choosing the proper sewing machine needle for your project, how to use the different feet that come with sewing machines, how to make the perfect button hole, which hems for which garment/fabric type. Some sewing magazines just focus on the fads, spending so much time on one subject (like machine embriodery--which would be helpful if I had one!) that those of us relatively new to sewing don't get the real tips and tricks that any sewer needs to create a quality garment or other project. Recommended.

I used to dream about subscribing to Threads and drool over them in the library, but the new format beginning in Fall 2005 is disappointing. They have added many more articles of interest to very new sewers such as how to choose the correct needle for a fabric. This basic info is readily available in many basic sewing books and it is not why I renewed to Threads for another 3 years. This magazine once showed cutting edge techniques and lots of projects that intermediate and advanced sewers could savor. As a beginning sewer I used to dream about conquering the exciting projects in Threads. Now, they have watered it down to appeal to less skilled people at the expense of the projects and information that made it stand out from other sewing magazines. This is still a "good" magazine, but no longer excellent. I wish that I could get back my money for the next 3 years and spend it on fabric.

Buy Threads Now

I have always enjoyed every issue of Threads in the past. The new format / contents does not appeal to me. Threads is now a beginner sewing magazine like many others on the market. Thread's was once a great magazine, the only one on the market for the intermediate and advanced sewers. The projects were wonderful and I and other's I know kept every single issue. Not now, there isn't really much in Thread's for the wearable art/advanced sewer. I will really miss the couture finishing techniqes and other articles with new ideas. These articles were much more detailed than any book. Because of this detail a sewer with some experience could use these articles to become an advanced sewer more quickly than buying many books. I only gave the 2 star's because it is a nice beginner magazine. If you are new to sewing this is a good magazine, but the more advanced sewer's should pass this one up.

I have been sewing for 30 years. I started when I was only eight years old. I thought I knew how to sew. I would see garments in shows and wonder how some people could do such a beautiful job. I finally found the answer! This magazine covers so many topics to really sharpen sewing skills and make projects have that extra special touch. The articals are interesting and the instuctions are clear. Even the ads are helpful to find the hard to get items. I would highly recomend this magazine to anyone that sews.

I simply love this magazine. Over the years as I have taken on a sewing project. The odd class play costume, pair of curtains or the shirt I wanted. This Magaizine has always had the best explainations of sewing instructions, plus pictures to go along.

I have enjoyed their insightful discussions of fabrics as well as all the latest "news" from the wide world of garment making. I apperciate that they are not devoted to making holiday crafts! The world does not need another set of fluff instructions.

I look foward to the beautiful back page of historical fabric as well every month.

Its the only magazine of which I have ever collected an entire set of back issues. These I consider a bit of a "Sewing Safty Net" They are worth their weight in gold.

Some day maybe I'll buy the issues binders.

Experience Life (1-year auto-renewal)

Experience LifeI started receiving this magazine after Organic Style folded, and I barely skimmed the first couple of issues, as I had no idea what kind of magazine it was or why I had started receiving it. Well once I actually read an issue all the way through, I was very pleasantly surprised. There are very well researched articles on healthy living, exercise, and mind-body fitness. There are book and new product reviews that are always interesting. The articles are positive and motivating, and the profiles of the person on the cover are nicely written as well. It's not the same old, same old from some of the more established fitness magazines like Shape, Self etc.

As my subscription is due to end this month and I came here to renew, I noticed the poor review due to the customer service of the fulfillment center. If I hadn't started receiving this magazine in similar circumstances, I never would have known about it, and I would not have the improved health and fitness habits I have today as a result.

It's impressive to me that the magazine chose to respond personally to the negative reviewer here as well.

Dear disappointed reader, please accept our sincere apologies. Our entire magazine team was distressed to learn about the frustrating experience you had trying to obtain a refund for your subscription to Experience Life, and we're so sorry it took this long to resolve.

Because these transactions are handled through a third-party fulfillment house, our magazine staff only just became aware of the problem this week (11/27/06). We've already taken steps to see that your money is refunded and the matter is resolved to your satisfaction. By now someone from our circulation staff should have been in contact with you directly. If not, please contact me at the phone number or email below, and I'll handle the matter personally.

After reading your post, we did some research and discovered that you received Experience Life as part of a contracted arrangement to fulfill the remainder of your Organic Style subscription after that magazine ceased publication. While your request to opt out of that fulfillment arrangement did come in after the official cancellation and refund deadline, you should never have received the treatment you did.

We've taken the matter up with our third-party fulfillment house and have expressed our dissatisfaction with this customer service representative's behavior. Actions have been taken to safeguard against situations like this from occurring in the future.

Again, we deeply regret that you were subjected to anything less than courteous and prompt treatment from our service providers. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to put the situation right.

Warm regards,

Christy Rice

As a fitness professional and healthy lifestyle coach, I continue to be impressed by the quality, depth and perspective of Experience Life magazine. The focus isn't just on how to get fit, lose weight and look better, which is refreshing. It is on how to have a healthier mindset and a healthier body. They offer practical ideas for being active (not just doing workouts), getting outdoors, eating healthier without dieting, overcoming the challenges to staying motivated, and addressing the underlying beliefs and emotions that get in the way of success.

Becoming fit and healthy is less about following a prescribed set of guidelines and more about understanding what jazzes and motivates you and what holds you back, and Experience Life gets this. They do an excellent job of looking at all facets of wellbeing, which in turn creates a broader and more thoughtful perspective of what it means to live a happy and healthy lifestyle. I highly recommend this magazine if you want to feel your best.

Overall, I think that Experience Life is much better than most health magazines. They avoid stupid claims, such as "get a bikini body in 5 days," which is quite refreshing. I also like their healthy approach to nutrition, which focuses on eating healthy and nutritiously as opposed to "dieting." My only complaint about the magazine is that in the past, they have centered certain issues around a particular topic; for example, there have been issues centered around being healthy as you age or being active as a family and with your kids. In some ways, this is a positive thing and the magazine is attempting to be inclusive. However, being in my mid-twenties and not having (or planning on ever having) children, I barely read these particular issues. I don't mind one or two articles of the magazine being devoted to particular topics, but having the entire issue centered around something that isn't relevant to me is sometimes frustrating. However, overall, I was quite pleased with this magazine and I think it promotes a much more positive image of health than other magazines, particularly those "health" magazines aimed at women, such as Shape.

Want Experience Life (1-year auto-renewal) Discount?

No exaggeration, this is the greatest magazine I've ever read. I have had this subscription since 2004 and I have enjoyed every single issue. The articles are well-researched and I like how they list all of their sources. Other magazines such as Shape, Self, and Fitness seem to only care about losing weight, but Experience Life focuses on being healthy in general. I also like how Experience Life doesn't contain ads about unsafe magic diet pills like all of the other "health" magazines seem to do. I highly recommend this magazine to anyone interested in living a healthy lifestyle. As a 23 year old woman, the articles in magazine have inspired me to stop eating crap and being a couch potato like most late-teens/college students do, and start living my life in a healthful way so I can live to be 123! I have bought this subscription for others as gifts and each of them have loved it as much as I do.

Dream Network Journal

Dream Network JournalDream Network has been my guiding dream star throughout my most productive dreaming years from the first issue onward. Editor, Roberta Ossana is one gutsy lady and a fine friend, undaunted in her passion to nurture a dream journal for the people ... what I call a Grassroots Dream Journal.

Roberta honors her own dreams to help keep DN moving in the direction of her true passion. She also honors the dreams of others, the outcome of which shines radiantly in every issue. It's not been a easy journey. Many an abyss jumped on faith; yet inspiration continues to flow around the rocky times.

Dream Network is reaping it's own rewards now, finally ready to be birthed to a much wider audience. Hurrah! Thank you, Roberta, it wouldn't have happened without you.

Noreen Wessling, 7 Arts Studio, Milford OH

When I was first introduced to Dream Network over 6 years ago, I was immediately impressed with its entire format. It exposed me to an impressive source of insightful articles, creative editorials, dream analysis, art and even dream poetry. It also provided me with a vast source of contacts and techniques used in dream therapy and evaluation.

Dream Network's new webpage is a wonderful aspect of art itself. Visually stunning and user friendly, Dream Network is a portal directing us to the mysterious contours within our dreamscape. Here, we can learn and explore the nature of the dreamer's symbolic world. Dream Network is an excellent site to learn and participate in. Incorporating some very useful links and where one can even submit their dreams to be read by a very large audience. Dream Network is the source to explore and analyze the power, magic and mystery within our dreams.

My first attraction to Dream Network Journal in the early 1990's was from Editor/Publisher Roberta Ossana's invitation that common people from all cultures could offer their dreaming experiences for publication in the journal. Dream Network also draws professional authors and artists who present dreaming materials from cultures around the world. Editor/Publisher Roberta Ossana is a deeply inspired and especially kind dedicated person. Peace is interwoven in all that she does. Such is the quality that she and her co-workers reflect in every issue of Dream Network, a journal that truly has something for everyone who values dreams.

You wouldn't throw $10.00 out of every $100.00 in the wastebasket. Don't waste the 10% or your thinking that takes place in your dream-mind.

DNJ has every level of contributor from the curious newbie to Ph.ds. Every level of dream experience personal, powerful, practical, spiritual is explored here.

Some right-brained people need a poetic, intuitive approach. Other left-brained people respond to logical, systematic analysis. Both are offered within the pages of DNJ. Not only will the reader find their natural, favored approaches, the reader will also be stretched by exposure to the opposite approach. I like them each, I'll take them both. Try it you'll like it.

True Detective

True Detective"true detective" is a classic old magazine. my 83 year old father in law loved seeing it again. an early father's day gift. he read it from front to back in a day. we were surprized to see it was shipped from England! my mother in law and i split the cost. it was well worth the money to order it, because he "truely" enjoyed it! thanks! lynn

True Detective has the best true crime stories, have been reading this for years. Their other mags True Crime , Master Detective and Murder Most Foul i recieve as well and they are all just as good. little tip though if you go straight to forum press its cheaper directly through them on as i just found out!!!

Buy True Detective Now

My first memory of True Detective magazines [and True Crime as well as Master Detective] is seeing my mother's collection [she has been collecting them since the 70s!] and this was back in Singapore [where British magazines are easily found]. I was just a young teen then, but my interest in true crime was cultivated back then and continues till today.

The stories are not for the faint-hearted these are true crime stories featuring some of the worst crimes and criminals in history, mainly centered in the US and UK, but also covering other countries in Europe, such as France and Germany. Some of these stories are penned by renowned true crime authors such as Colin Wilson etc, and each featured story is accompanied by actual photographs of the crime scene, the victim/s, the accused etc.

For those who love true crime, this and other true crime magazines are definitely recommended. The only problem I have faced since moving to the States is the difficulty in obtaining these magazines in bookstores [and the subscription price isn't exactly cheap either!]. But the magazine definitely makes for riveting reading!

I became interested in the true detective series ever since I found the article with my dad's brother on the cover. He murdred his whole family some time in the 1960's.. the magazine was in a ceter chest my dad kept at the foot of his bed.

I cannot truly rate this product as I have sent it as a gift for my father-in-law. He has not received it yet, but he is excited and looking forward to trying it out. It is similar to another magazine he used to get and he is always re-reading the old magazines over and over. I hope he will enjoy the new stories.

Food Network Magazine (1-year auto-renewal)

Food Network MagazineThis magazine is packaged very well for the casual reader. I would term it more as a Food Network Magazine than a recipe digest as some people might expect it to be. Yes, there are some recipes but its more about cooking tools (pretty expensive ones at that), fancy gear, insight into Food Network chefs, book promotions and then a few recipes.

Don't take me wrong, I like it but it is definitely not for the recipes it packs.

And for the rare vegetarian chef/cooking enthusiast out there, not your kind of book.

I bought this subscription a couple of weeks ago as a Christmas gift for my Mom and she already received it! And, it's GREAT! She LOVES it. The magazine has everything in it from easy recipes to interviews with stars and chefs. It has little articles on tips and tricks for your home and even "green" cooking and decorating ideas. I was super surprised how great the format of this magazine was and how visually pleasing it was to read. It was interesting, and not just if you're into cooking or watch the Food Network. I read the entire issue. Love it!

Gotta have this magazine if you are a lover of easy, delicious, unique food. Recipes for weeknights, weekends, get togethers and special occasions. Each recipe has pictures and easy to use instructions. Even for an experienced cook, the recipes are intriguing and unique enough to capture your interest and peak your curiosity enough to "give it a try". For the inexperienced cook, they are so easy to follow that there is no fear to "give it a try." Gotta have for "foodies" like me!!

This is a great magazine with fabulous and numerous recipes each month. I was pleasantly surprised with the content and have already made several of the meals. The first issue that I received had close to 100 different recipes.

Want Food Network Magazine (1-year auto-renewal) Discount?

I was pleasantly surprised at my first issue of Food Network Magazine. I expected another food magazine with maybe a few new ideas but this really exceeded my expectations. I've gotten two issues so far and really enjoy it. I like cooking magazines with lot of photos of the finished recipe and this doesn't disappoint. The high quality, colorful photos are a great temptation to try the different dishes which so far have turned out very well. I ordered Gourmet (1-year) around the same time and found Food Network a nice complement to it with more casual recipes along with the gourmet stuff.

I especially like the "Copy That!" feature where they take a dish from a well known restaurant and come up with a recipe for it. Also, the "Weeknight & Weekend Dinners" are a great source of inspiration when you can't come up with any ideas on your own. I posted some pictures of the magazine on this site.

I hope this magazine keeps up the same great style and articles because so far it's a winner!
