Good Old Boat
This magazine is fairly expensive on a per issue basis when you compare it with the competition, but the quality of the content makes it a BEST VALUE. I currently subscribe to 5 sailing mags, and if I have to cut any Good Old Boat will be the last to go. Unlike all the other magazines, I save all the issues and am in the process of acquiring the back issues on CD for future reference.Good old boat is the real stuff. If you're interested in maintaining or fixing up an old boat (it's mostly sailboats), or if you're interested in seeing how people do these projects, this is the ONLY magazine written for most of us, who just can't write a check to a boatyard for everything we do. You may enjoy looking at the other magazines for the boat you'll probably never own, but in Good Old Boat you'll see the boats that the majority of us actually have. A lot of classic plastic boats, with some reviews and some design articles.
Edited and written by boaters for boaters, I have gotten Good Old Boat since it first came out, and it's only gotten better over time. Most subscribers read it cover to cover, even if they aren't doing a big project!
I have subscribed to all the magazines over the years, but this is the only one I continue to get.We have read Good Old Boat magazine for years and find it a wealth of information for DIY boat projects. I enjoy the fact that the editors mix up the topics from diesel and gas engines, electronics and navigational equipment, boat design, anchoring, sewing projects and even recipes. My husband and I enjoy being "hands on" with our boat chores. You provide a great resource for me to glean great ideas to make our vessel a unique and comfortable little yacht. The advertisers you see in Good Old Boat are companies I spend my boat dollars with. Glad they are there to keep us all afloat.
You say that your magazine is the boat magazine for the rest of us. Well, thanks for your informative and easy to understand journal. We look forward to each new copy. We will see ya out there.

Rock Hall, MarylandGood Old Boat is the only magazine that gives us average sailors what we need and want to know. We're not rich and will never go to some tropical, island unless we're on a cruise boat. Just help us keep our old boat running and fill us in on places we can actually afford to go,to. I've had about every boating magazine and this is the best without filling up with advertising .Great magazine I was a little concerned about getting the magazine as I had never heard of it nor seen it in a book store before. The articles are first rate and are written in a manor for both beginners and old salts. I would highly recommend this magazine.

Audioxpress
I only gave it three stars because while I think they cover technical aspects such as measurements very well, in my opinion they do a lousy job of coming up with really good designs to test out. I recall reading a final test of a subwoofer they built and they were having trouble finding out why there was distortion at the bass port. The last sentence of the article said something like "Although, it could just be because we built a square shaped port with 90 degree angles in it." You think? Doh!

Garden Gate
I'm not big on outdoor creations, but I agree that a wellmanicured landscape and a nice garden area is not only easy on the eyes, it can also add a sense of peacefulness by its mere presence. Who doesn't enjoy walking into a beautiful garden area? Even if you have little interest in gardening, horticulture, or anything related, there is much to be said for a nice, green/flowery yard and Garden Gate Magazine is very useful to help you achieve exactly that, with projects and advice for individuals at different skill levels.
I have been reading Garden Gate Magazine for only a short time but I have found much useful information in this publication. The lists and the step by step instructions are among my favorites and I like that the magazine is not geared only toward those with the extragreen thumbs. I am not very skilled in a garden so I need a publication that respects my limited abilities. Garden Gate Magazine has plenty to offer an inexperienced person like myself and at the same time, it has plenty of great ideas that involve more extensive building and planting, making the magazine useful for the more experienced individual. Garden Gate Magazine leaves no person behind, and that is one of the publication's many appeals.
Garden Gate Magazine spells everything out nicely and includes plenty of diagrams so that even an outdoor klutz like myself can figure out what each thing means and what to do. The magazine has a good deal of information, too, and some might find it surprising that a publication with only 50 pages can include so much in so little space. Take a look at the Departments, "In Every Issue", and features listed above. When was the last time you saw a table of contents like that in a fifty-page magazine? There is a reason Garden Gate Magazine is able to pack in so much in so little room and the reason is there are no advertisements!! This is such a refreshing change from other magazines and it makes a big difference when you are trying to follow instructions. There is nothing to distract and the articles are not very long, making this the perfect reading option for those with shorter attention spans.
When a magazine is free from advertisements, it is often high in price and Garden Gate Magazine is no exception. The magazine is published only six times per year and each issue carries a high cover price around five dollars. To make matters worse, you don't get much of a cut in price when you subscribe. Buy all six issues at your local newsstand and it will cost you $30. Subscribe for a year, and it will cost you $24. This is a savings, yes, but it isn't nearly the level of subscription savings so common with other magazines. A twoyear deal makes the savings better (presently 2 years are offered for $38, cutting the cover price by 37 percent), but the cost per issue is still quite high and it is the direct result of publishing adfree.
If you can get past the cost, however, you will find that Garden Gate Magazine is a very good magazine with much to offer everyone who loves a nice landscape. As I said, I'm not even much into this type of work and I don't landscape as a hobby, yet I still like reading this magazine. If a publication can pique the interest of someone who doesn't even have a true interest in the subject, it must be doing something right and Garden Gate Magazine is definitely a periodical that is doing almost everything correctly. What a terrific magazine! It grabs ones attention from begining to end! Everything and more that you wanted to know about gardening.
It is not just for the professional but for the lazy gardener as well! This is a relaxing journal to read -not complex, easy to enjoy, but not a fantastically helpful horticultural experience.Great source of info for plants, containers and a hundred other things. One of the best magazines on market. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to work with plants.

Sheep Magazine
It's NOT an "industrial" type rag that just re-prints government gobbledygook--it's always and only focused on real sheep growers and how they make good money on their own.
Lots of sheep growers from all over the world write in to Sheep! Magazine sharing their experiences, questions, updates and discoveries.
Sheep! has a world-famous vet that answers questions, a top shearer that does the same, the world's foremost predator guy, an Almanac section that tells about high-paying ethnic and religious sheep consumers--what they need and the dates they're going to buy--plus lots of price tables that help decide what to charge.
After some serious math, I figured we made about 8 times the cost of the subscription back each year, without even working at it.
I don't always agree with its editorial positions, but hey, the magazine makes me money so it's worth it. If you do purebreds, I recommend listing in the magazine, no other (for the $) even came close to their return.I look forward to the mag. every month. It is a great source of infomation, as well as beautiful photos of the sheep that sheep herders love.

Food Network Magazine (1-year auto-renewal)
Don't take me wrong, I like it but it is definitely not for the recipes it packs.
And for the rare vegetarian chef/cooking enthusiast out there, not your kind of book.I bought this subscription a couple of weeks ago as a Christmas gift for my Mom and she already received it! And, it's GREAT! She LOVES it. The magazine has everything in it from easy recipes to interviews with stars and chefs. It has little articles on tips and tricks for your home and even "green" cooking and decorating ideas. I was super surprised how great the format of this magazine was and how visually pleasing it was to read. It was interesting, and not just if you're into cooking or watch the Food Network. I read the entire issue. Love it!

Gotta have this magazine if you are a lover of easy, delicious, unique food. Recipes for weeknights, weekends, get togethers and special occasions. Each recipe has pictures and easy to use instructions. Even for an experienced cook, the recipes are intriguing and unique enough to capture your interest and peak your curiosity enough to "give it a try". For the inexperienced cook, they are so easy to follow that there is no fear to "give it a try." Gotta have for "foodies" like me!!Read Best Reviews of Food Network Magazine (1-year auto-renewal) Here
This is a great magazine with fabulous and numerous recipes each month. I was pleasantly surprised with the content and have already made several of the meals. The first issue that I received had close to 100 different recipes.Want Food Network Magazine (1-year auto-renewal) Discount?
I was pleasantly surprised at my first issue of Food Network Magazine. I expected another food magazine with maybe a few new ideas but this really exceeded my expectations. I've gotten two issues so far and really enjoy it. I like cooking magazines with lot of photos of the finished recipe and this doesn't disappoint. The high quality, colorful photos are a great temptation to try the different dishes which so far have turned out very well. I ordered Gourmet (1-year) around the same time and found Food Network a nice complement to it with more casual recipes along with the gourmet stuff.I especially like the "Copy That!" feature where they take a dish from a well known restaurant and come up with a recipe for it. Also, the "Weeknight & Weekend Dinners" are a great source of inspiration when you can't come up with any ideas on your own. I posted some pictures of the magazine on this site.
I hope this magazine keeps up the same great style and articles because so far it's a winner!
