Men of Integrity

Men of IntegrityImagine "Our Daily Bread," written in a more contemporary tone, slanted for a male audience. Then add stiff subscription ads. That's "Men of Integrity."

"Men of Integrity" is an anecdotal, vignette-driven daily devotional magazine. Like "Our Daily Bread," it takes the reader into a Scripture with some challenges. It is not as deep as "My Utmost for His Highest," or as spiritually pushing, but it does serve a good purpose.

Topics in the issue in my hand include racism, reconciliation, marital infidelity, corruption, children and fatherhood, profanity, commitment to attending church, and temptation. A weekly roundup sums up each week with questions to remind the reader.

For the man on the go, the one who is not ready or willing to read Scripture at length, this is perfect. It is small, slipping easily into a pocket for lunchtime or train-ride reading. It is bimonthly, and supplies two months worth of devotionals.

A thoughtful man could spend 30 minutes on each day's chapter, reading through the biblical passages and thinking through the questions. A casual reader will finish it in five minutes.

Cobranded by "Promises Keepers," Christianity Today holds true to its mission, "To engage, encourage, and equip the church worldwide, sharing the depth and transforming power of the Gospel as it permeates all spheres of life."

The only real negative is the ad cards stitched in. Those can be ripped out, and tossed away.

I fully recommend subscribing to "Men of Integrity."

Like the other reviewer mentioned, this is a small devotional style publication. It is similar in nature to the "Daily Bread" devotional booklets, perhaps 4x6 inches in size. The content was fine, but we were not looking for a devotional, but an actual Mens Magazine.

I sent this to my nephew who has been sitting in prison for awhile. He wrote me a letter and thanked me profusely.

I love it that Amazon has the approval to deliver to the prisons, it makes it so easy to reach out to loved ones who are hurting and need to be healed, before they get back out in the world.

Jaguar World Monthly

Jaguar World MonthlyThis is a great periodical published in the UK about all things Jaguar. The magazine covers the latest Jaguar offerings (e.g. F-Type as of May 2014) but also devotes a good portion of its effort towards educating the reader on Jaguar's rich heritage (e.g. the XK120 days). Some of the reviews cover models that are not available in the US, such as the XF 2.2D and XF Sportbrake, but we Americans can keep dreaming that one day, those models might make it across the pond.

Very easy ordering process and no need to invoke exchange rate fees on my CC. The only down side is that you can't participate in the prize draws in the magazine, when living in the US.

It turns out that the slightest difference between the way I wrote my address when renewing and the way it was registered with the magazine subscription department caused my renewal to be registered as a new subscription. I contacted the magazine and they rectified it by crediting my account by one copy. Great response and service

Whisky (1-year auto-renewal)

WhiskyIf you like a good single malt, or are considering drinking the "water of life", this magazine will please you it has content for both the novice and "expert". The only reason it doesn't get 4 stars is it is a British publication, and many of the products reviewed or featured in articles are not available in the US. The area of distribution is given in the reviews, but this is not always mentioned in the articles.

I highly recommend this magazine. Michael Jackson is the Consultant Editor, along with many other wise industry folks. Always a good read with Feature articles that vary from reviews of particular distilleries to components of scotch like peat.

Michael Jackson and Dave Broom write "The tastings" section and there are the regular articles as well as many references to where you can find information and purchase whisky online or by phone. Also provides good breaking industry news and a collector's corner section.

If you would like more info online before deciding, the website is [URL].

Cheers!

Paul

For those who appreciate whisky and want to explore its rich history and diversity, this is the recommended magazine for them.

Articles cover everything from history, to reviews, to food pairing, to whisky events and everything in between.

If you're not familiar with the magazine, try leafing through it in a bookstore to get a feel for it and you'll be convinced.

Navy Times

Navy TimesI get this subscribtion every year for my retired Navy father. He loves to get it, and had stopped his delivery due to personal finance reasons. So I hopped on Amazon, and ordered it up to be delivered to his house and have been doing so for four or five years now.

The articles help him stay in touch with all the changes in the Navy since his retirement in 1977. When you are retired, a good read on a regular basis really improves the quality of life...So I would highly recommend it or go with the Army, or Marines, or Air Force Times if you have a loved one with connections to those services.

Thank you to all who served (I did 20 myself and have one of my sons deployed now.)

Classic Trains

Classic TrainsI was born much too late to see steam engines in anything but excursion service. That said I love seeing all the pictures and reading about what it was like long before I was born. Being from Chicago I also constantly see pictures of sites I have visited or can recognize. This magazine is a bargain at its price.

This is one of the best magazines for fans of railroading on the newsstands. It contains many advertisers and resources for all aspects of the railroading lover's hobby. We have been getting this magazine for some time now. It is a great resource for ideas, available products and railroading news.
