Logic Lovers Logic Problems

Logic Lovers Logic ProblemsLogic problem books are hard to find at this point. So was thrilled to find this product! It arrived sooner than stated (there was a several month wait for the subscrition to start, and it started within one month). If you like puzzles, you should try logic problems. Very fun for the brain.

I love getting a new logic problem magazine every couple of months. These vary in difficulty and each one contains instructions in the beginning so even newbies can start. It's relaxing and a great way to unwind without technology. Sharpen a pencil, sharpen your mind.

Videomaker Magazine (1-year auto-renewal)

Videomaker MagazineIt is hard to distinguish one issue of this magazine from the next. Too much repitition with respect to technique and equipment. Not enough equipment reviews or other aspects of video (i.e., festivals, etc.). The articles on technique are almost clones of each other from issue to issue. Also, too many advertisements.

I'm a professional writer and video producer. I subscribed to this magazine via Amazon thinking it would provide a useful teaching tool for the flock of interns I employ every semester. Alas, not so: the magazine is less than useless, it's actually detrimental to the inexperience and maddening to me. Why? Because the writing is very sloppy; it appears the editor/publisher never actually reads what he publishes. The articles are incoherently written, full of typos and, on those rare occasions when the writer is actually communicating, frequently factually wrong. I've written the editor/publisher several times asking him to make corrections of fact, but he never does. Finally, I wrote asking that he cancel my subscription and refund the balance of my money -but no reply there, either. Indeed, it looks to me like the editor/publisher writes his own Letters to the Editor section, as the letters are always flattering -and completely content-free. It's too bad this magazine has existed for 25 years, thus likely discouraging anyone else from taking a stab at publishing for the beginning consumer video market. There is definitely a need for good writing published on a regular basis for that audience -but Videomaker is not that publication.

I am a computer videomaker myself, and if there is one invaluable resource avalible on the comsumer market, it's COMPUTER VIDEOMAKER. It reviews hardware, software, cameras, computers, and even gives you tips on how to make your videos look more professional. The articles are concise, accurate, and well written, so you don't have to search to find the information you are looking for. This magazine has made me a well informed videographer, and there is no doubt that it has helped, and will help how I plan, execute, and enjoy this incredibly rewarding hobby.

Text books are great, but outta date.

I get the best information from trade magazines. In my opinion, this has always been the best for the Videomaker. I first subscribed in 1998 when I jumped into the Avid world of NLE. Still relevant each month.

Navy Times

Navy TimesI get this subscribtion every year for my retired Navy father. He loves to get it, and had stopped his delivery due to personal finance reasons. So I hopped on Amazon, and ordered it up to be delivered to his house and have been doing so for four or five years now.

The articles help him stay in touch with all the changes in the Navy since his retirement in 1977. When you are retired, a good read on a regular basis really improves the quality of life...So I would highly recommend it or go with the Army, or Marines, or Air Force Times if you have a loved one with connections to those services.

Thank you to all who served (I did 20 myself and have one of my sons deployed now.)

Company

CompanyI couldn't find this magazine at bookstores any longer, so I subscribed via amazon. Nothing wrong with the subscription itself, but the magazine has undergone a drastic change. It's not a glossy mag anymore, very rough newsprint bound paper. Also the content is all strange ads and nothing but fashion. Company used to be a magazine for the modern woman, with articles, advice columns, etc, but it's now for a very young woman without substance. I was quite disappointed, and I usually LOVE all things British, and previously loved Company magazine.

I could no longer find this magazine at any of the newstands so I ordered it through Amazon. I am enjoying it so much!!

Shotgun News (1-year auto-renewal)

Shotgun NewsIf you love guns, this is the publication for you! This is not a glossy photo spread magazine, its more of a newspaper type 'classified ads' publication. Lists pages and pages of every conceivable type of firearm for sale, at dealer (FFL) prices. You will comb the pages for hours and never get bored. Use it to find what you want, and then contact your local FFL dealer to get it slightly above wholesale cost. Save big bucks over inflated sporting goods store price!

I have purchased many issues over the years and hope to receive a subscription for christmas. I have found it to be a very complete resource for firearms as well as many other military surplus and survival based products. The classifieds are arranged for easy use and the articles are very informative.Shotgun News

SN is an odd publication. It is a large-format shopping magazine like the old Computer Shopper magazine used to be, but it also has great articles. There are vendors that sell everything related to this hobby. So, you can dig thru it looking for that odd item, or you can see what is brand new to the market and what it will cost you to get your hands on one. In the past few years, SN has really picked up its feature articles too. They contain really great, informative, articles about subjects that I appreciate including DIY projects, history, and collectibles. This is not like any of the other mags that mostly show the latest and greatest with super-tech photographs and reviews. It is great for those who are building collections, buying&selling, and keeping a finger on pulse of their industy or hobby. It is also a great place to look for Curio & Relics, military surplus arms, and militaria that being imported/re-imported. So, it is unique amoung other magazines, but it is a great one to keep around.

SHOTGUN NEWS has been around for decades now. If you're interested in firearms, militaria, collecting, reloading, or simply need some ammo and a sling for your Japanese Type 38 infantry rifle, you've got a pretty good chance of finding it in SHOTGUN NEWS.

It also includes shotguns, rifles, pistols, revolvers, black powder arms and kits from which you can build your own. After you get that Model 1860 Springfield together, you can find a socket bayonet and forage cap in SHOTGUN NEWS.

Most modern firearms require you to make the purchase through an FFL dealer in your community. Most such dealers charge a small fee for taking delivery, but you can save a significant amount of money purchasing from dealers who advertise in SHOTGUN NEWS. Some of the arms are deeply discounted at certain times of the year.

SHOTGUN NEWS also includes some great articles on guns, ammunition, collecting and market trends. It's like a big classified section with a lot of notations, comments and a few articles.

I've always enjoyed SHOTGUN NEWS and I gave it five stars. If you're a shooter, collector, hunter, outdoorsman, military historian, re-enactor, or living history enthusiast, you'll love SHOTGUN NEWS.

I-D - Levelprint

I-D - Levelprinti-D magazine is not the same I.D. magazine. the former is the magazine described on this page, a fashion magazine. the latter is short for Industrial Design magazine, which is what the misplaced product description above describes.

in 2005 it was:

my go-to fashion magazine

i-D focuses on the high fashion and its culture, particularly europe-based/ international designers.

the magazine often features interviews with top designers, executives, and misc. fashion celebrities. there are several large spreads of photography in every issue, with very clear themes and well-selected, representative pieces from fresh off the runway lines, accompanied by similarly fresh hair and make up. this is what stylists and designers read.

many large chain bookstores carry i-D, i would say it enjoys the widest circulation among its competitors (V/ this is a magazine.) its non-industry readership can be compared to that of surface magazine, but i-D is very fashion focused. the subscription is not cheaper than buying individual issues, but it sells out from bookstores and newsstands regularly.

in 2010 it is:

an artifact.

the gestalt and aesthetics remain the same as it was 5 years ago. if i wanted a tasteful, popular, safe fashion opinion i'd go read Vogue. it's fashion magazine, not a National Geographic.

this is a magazine made by and read by an aging population. Mariah Carey on the cover? demoted.

youth culture has changed; fashion has changed. it's high time that it's reflected in print, because some people can't acknowledge what's happening until they are told.

printed in England.

i have read this i-D for just 1 year!

but i knew it for many years, cos i live in china, there's few foregin magazine i could bought around my city beijing.

i booked it in a import&export company.

it's really too expensive to me, it cost more than 1,000 yuan RMB.

you could read all new in this mag. new models, new fashion, new photographers etc.

the quanlity of this mag is well, paper and print are the best.

its pics are not just beautiful also can get you into a think-time, and you will won something that you feeling great.

so buy i then get the i-D's mind into your brain.

after few monthes you will find i-d is one of the greatest mag in the world.

Casino Player

Casino PlayerCasino Player is a monthly subscription magazine that tries to be all things to all casino enthusiasts, and usually succeeds. From the mathematic and probability computations for the video poker fan by guru Bob Dancer, to Jean Scott's wonderful column The Frugal Gambler, which gives first-timers and seasoned players alike excellent information on how to get comps (which are freebees---sort of---that the casinos give their customers.), this outstanding publication delivers first-rate information for travelers to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Tunica to use to make their stays more enjoyable and profitable. Recently, Casino Player has seen fit to substantially overhaul their content, adding more first-rate columnists such as Basil Nestor (who deals with gaming's colorful and illustrious history), and adding more coverage to new areas of the country as gaming (not gambling; the correct term these days is gaming) continues to expand into new markets such as Southern California and the Upper Midwest. The results show a decided improvement in both the magazine's content and range of coverage, though not without some sacrifices along the way. Unfortunately, two of the magazine's best columns have recently been lost in the shuffle: The Aggrivated Gambler, a forum for dealing with unpleasant casino experiences and how to cut through red tape, written by the very fine writer Melissa Fine; and Mystery Tourist, a nonbylined column which explores the offerings of a different resort every month under the guise of anonymity. However, the new additions more than make up for the losses. Hopefully, now that coverage is being reapportioned, more attention can be given to such oft-neglected (Las Vegas) gems such as the Monte Carlo, Luxor, Treasure Island (or TI, as it is now called) and the Stratosphere; a lovely profile of local Coast Properties fave the Orleans just appeared in last month's issue, so perhaps steps are being taken in that direction. In any case, whether you are an experienced or neophyte gamer, you will want to subscribe to the new and improved Casino Player ASAP. With all their recent upgrades, there's no doubt that the best gaming magazine in the industry is certainly getting better!!!

Casino Player is the end-all magazine for the serious gambler (and the gambler who likes weekend fun with lots of comps!). It is one of the pricier magazines, but the cost is well worth it, and it isn't over-run with advertising.

The letters to the editor touch on basic gaming, slot, and comp questions, and I always glean useful information from the Q&A section. The magazine content covers slot machines, video poker strategy and probability, table game strategy and expected pay-offs, investing in the gaming industry's publicly-held corporations, and reviews of properties, restaurants, and shows. I always read it before heading to Vegas to learn what is new and happening on the Strip and in the area.

Casino Player provides balanced coverage of Vegas, Atlantic City, Indian properties, and riverboat casinos. As a Southern CA native, I usually skim features outside Vegas, but the magazine should be commended for reaching out to gamblers in all parts of the country.

Decision - North American Edition

Decision - North American Edition"Decision" ranks as one of the classic Christian publications because it has clung fast to the principles which found it. Always focused on Scripture and evangelism, just as you'd expect from the Billy Graham organization, the articles are never bland. Instead of being filled with fluff, greeting card encouragement, "Decision" instead leads the way in design, in depth, and in honesty.

From the "Quiet Heart" poetry section (my favorite), to the call to a Christian life through features by Billy Graham, noted Christian teachers, and everyday people, there is a sense that the editors are doing more than publishing a magazine.

There are updates on the various Graham ministries, but this is not a newsletter about their efforts. There are Bible studies, like looking at Paul's "Letter to Philemon" as a guide to reconciling relationships and understanding God's involvement. There are testimonies, like how one woman came to know the peace of God while her young son struggled with a leukemia. From cover to cover, there is enough for a Christian reader to learn something worth knowing.

"Decision" is surprisingly ecumenical. Though the theology is Bible-based and evangelical, it is no respecter of denominations or churches. You'll read articles written by Lutherans, Baptists, Nazarenes and Anglicans, yet always bound to the Word of God.

I fully recommend "Decision," both as a gift for yourself or a friend, and as an excellent addition to your church library.
