Montana : the Magazine of Western History

Montana : the Magazine of Western HistoryI have received Montana for the last three years. Articles are informative and often quite thought provoking. Recent articles on health-care history and social welfare in gold rush-era Virginia City relate directly to issues we face today. Other articles, if not directly relevant to me, have at least told interesting or entertaining stories on topics like pioneer women, Indian history, battles, etc. All in all, I look forward to each issue.

Love this!! I live in Montana and this is full of great information and beautiful pictures. Some family will be getting this as gifts.

Airways : a Global Review of Commercial Flight

Airways : a Global Review of Commercial FlightIf you are interested in airlines, airliners and airports -this is a great magazine. Every month, in high-quality high-gloss detail there are stories from around the world. A wonderful mix of old and new, big and small. While there are lots of magazines on flying airplanes or military hardware, this is the one standout magazine for commercial aviation. Includes monthly columns, photos of all the latest paint schemes, and book reviews.

I saw this on base on the magazine shelf in the BX (Base Exchange) on Ramstein AB Germany, so I thought why not. I bought it and was very impressed by the layout: News on aircraft/airlines around the world, great articles, airline reviews on various routes, history, hearing about airlines I haven't heard of, then the ads in the back, and other items of interest. The pictures and articles are very well balanced in this magazine. I've been a subscriber for nearly 3 years now, and will most likely renew a again. Contacting them to hold my subscription when I PCSed (or moved to you in the civilian world), they stopped mailing for the time and contacted them with my new address with no problems. Overall, a good experience!!

Good Housekeeping (1-year auto-renewal)

Good HousekeepingI have received "ladies'magazines" for many years and keep coming back to GH. I am 57, single, have little reading time for pleasure and little interest in or time for walking through stores to keep up with products, new ideas, etc for women. I don't' even spend much time on the net for this information. I like GH's reputation for quality (GH Seal of Approval and assessment of products), the price (it requires ads to sell the magazine at this low price in today's market; GH passes some on to the customer by keeping the subscription cost low), and the timeliness and the variety of topics interesting women. And I enjoy the tidbits of celebrity information without excessively intimate details of their personal lives that have no impact on the reason I enjoy their performances/talent. It's the only "overall" magazine of this kind that addresses things I want to know about on a consistent basis without becoming the same every month, which is something I don't like about many other periodicals. I also enjoy the ads; otherwise, I would never know of foods, beauty aids, cooking techniques and equipment, fashions, shoes, books, etc. I look forward to getting my GH. When topics greatly interest me, I cut and file them. Also, when I finish with one while flying, I can always find another woman who is happy to take it on their flight.

As some of the youngsters say today, "It's all good!"

Of all the magazines, this one has the best layout.

Whether you are looking for the latest news on your favorite star or are looking for a new recipe...this magazine has it all.

You know how many magazines say: "Oh, we are going to tell you about...." And five minutes later, you are still looking for "that" article. Well, in this magazine they have a great Contents page with a special: "On the Cover" section. So, if you want to read about Nicole Kidman she is on page 110! OK, that was in the November 2001 issue and it is quite a sad article. What ever happened to the fairy tale? I just don't know...

Now, if you love reading about other people who are making the news, the People section always has something fun to read about. Fashion and beauty gives ideas on the latest nail color or makeup tips. The articles on relationships are interesting.

This magazine also has sections for: Health & Well Being, Consumer Sense, The Better Way, Food & Home, Fiction, Departments and Columns. The TECH section is always of interest. There is a definite focus on women, as in: "The Best Cell Phones for Women." Plus, this is where you can find Heloise giving out the newest Household Tips.

My favorite page is the looks, trends, and news page where they always give you ideas for holidays or feature beauty products like Pumpkin Pie body wash in November. The recipes are often multicultural and you can find anything from Lebkuchen to Pavlova with Passion Fruit Sorbet.

In my top 10 of favorite magazines!

~The Rebecca Review

Good Housekeeping is a wholesome, clean, serious magazine. Various topics that may be found in an issue how to raise children, household tips, financial help, or marriage advice suggest that the magazine is geared towards the middle-aged to the older woman. I'm married and only in my 20s, but I still get so much out of reading the articles and advice anyway.

I absolutely love this magazine! I was looking for a magazine with good, long articles to read, and I found this great one. They even re-designed the look, and it's excellent. Everything is more organized, clearly separated into their respective sections, and each page is clearly marked with the section header so I'll always know which section I'm on.

I particularly enjoy the articles about real-life triumphs and tragedies, Talk to Me by Joy Behar about relationship advice, and Peggy Post's Etiquette Dilemmas.

Ok, Amazon has it at 10.00 as of Feb 2004, and the cover price is 2.50 Enough said right there. But let me inspire you further, Amazon's price is even cheaper than directly from the publisher!!! OK, as for the magazine itself, this is another one my mom likes to read and which I find myself checking out from time to time. Good Housekeeping has existed for many years and is ranked 5th in the USA for sales! It has a circulation of over 4,000,000. It covers an array of topics including: food, fitness, beauty, child care, money management, health news, travel, and human interest stories. This is a magazine that would be great for any homemaker (is that one word or two?) If you are a parent or someone who has their own place, this magazine could be a big benefit to you. It's main aim is at women, though many men read it for its insightful articles.

Was once an excellent, reliable mag, with all sorts of helpful information on different subjects. Now, it's mostly adverts with a few pages of info and recipes here and there, and half of it seems to be geared toward housewives who are intent upon watching every calorie. I guess if you're ocd about your weight and you're looking for another way to beat yourself up, this is for you.

House Beautiful (1-year auto-renewal)

House BeautifulOf the many shelter magazines I subscribe to, this has to be in the top three. This magazine is a huge improvement over what it was even a few years ago. A good mix of freshened up traditional, fun, and not-too-concretey modern interiors. Not as funky as Domino, often more current and fun than Veranda and Southern Accents. More traditional (and liveable) than Dwell, and way less beige than uninspirational Architectural Digest. Less old-world than World of Interiors. House Beautiful features interiors you'd actually want to live in.

I just received my first two issues yesterday. This magazine is page after page of advertisements. The thing that really bugs me about that is companys run the same advertisements in the same magazines again and again so two issues are virtually the magazine since there are very few articles.

For some reason even the articles in this magazine get lost because they have the same look as their ads. One article was suppose to be tips from over 125 top designers what it really was 125 designers listed with addresses and phone #s and a couple of tips on each page of that section.

I'm really disappointed. For a GREAT magazine, try Southern Living. For a REALLY GOOD magazine, try Better Homes and Gardens.

This magazine is a good source of inspiration ... however, unless you are a professional interior designer, there is a strong likelihood that you will find this magazine intimidating, as I do ... still, the photos are wonderful.

This magazine comes with lots of advertisements 70% or more. Plus, articles (less than 15 articles in every issue) in the magazines are not very useful. I subscribed the magazine because it is inexpensive and it is rated high by other subscribers. Now I realize I made a mistake.

I love House Beautiful! It gives so many wonderful ideas. This is a collection of ecclectic styles, patterns, and methods that will suit anyone's taste. And these ideas aren't hard to follow. With the smallest effort, anyone can follow the look they have in the magazine.

Cross Stitch Collection

Cross Stitch CollectionWhat a fabulous magazine! The designs are more intricate and sophisticated than those found in American magazines yet the charts are still as easy to read. Just wish it wasn't quite so expensive or could be charged month by month! Carol Lehr

I have been a huge fan of this UK magazine for several years now. The projects are absolutely beautiful and not the sappy, cutesy stuff we publish here in the states. These are projects that actually take time, thought and talent and give you the most wonderful sense of accomplishment when you finish it. These are heirloom projects that your great-grandchildren will treasure. Well worth the subscription price.

Buy Cross Stitch Collection Now

Love this magazine but would rather go to the store and purchase. I am so far missing 3 issues and have written 6 e-mails with no satisfaction to the publisher of Cross Stitch Collection. I finally decided to call Amazon and they are giving me a credit for the missing issues. The one issue that I really wanted I was told was sold out and they sent another magazine which I threw out. Had nothing of interest for me. I was told that my subscription ran from April 2010 to April 2011 from Amazon. The magazine publisher said my subscription ran out in February. I was supposed receive 12 issues. Never again would I order from them. They are not a reliable company to buy from.

The reason I purchased this magazine was that I love the Joan Elliott cross stitch designs. I found out that these designs come out 6 mouths later then the magazine. I would rather wait now and get the original pattern.

Yeah, it's not cheap. But even if you only like the cover design and just stitch that one, you've gotten your money's worth. This magazine has great patterns for beginners, as well as those who want more intricate projects to complete. And if you order the magazine from the publisher's site, you can get a 2 year subscription for about $50 less than buying 2 separate yearly subscriptions through here. :)

Motorcycle Classics

Motorcycle ClassicsThe unbiased writing helps readers appreciate the vintage machines for their raw impact in technology, culture, etc. Also has helpful guides to bikes increasing in value. I favor Japanese and British motorcycles which are highlighted in this magazine plus other great write ups on others regardless of nationality. I've actually grown an appreciation for American bikes!

This is a fun magazine to read with many interesting, well written articles. It also began to arrive at the house in only about 3 weeks, as opposed to the 6 weeks they promised.

Great mag for people still interested in the old bikes. Has a repair section that will sometimes be helpful. You know how repairs go if you own a 30+ year old bike.
