This is an excellent publication (based on the first issue). It comes from a reputable source (national geographic) therefore you can be assured that it's based on legit info, not just opinion. This is packed full of useful and enlightening info, so much so that I've shared it with at least 4 other people! I read this along with mother earth news each month and I absolutely have a richer, greener and more responsible life as a result!

Northern Virginia Magazine

This magazine does an amazing job of detailing anywhere you could want to see in the Northern Virginia area. For instance, a sampling from the July issue: Where to go for hot air ballooning, rooftop dining, natural swimming holes, innertubing, spas, ice rinks, dog parks, boat rentals, shaded trails, run through fountains, waterfalls, fireworks, county fairs and so on, along with any applicable dates or addresses. There are also restaurant reviews, recipes, and articles of interest to those living in the area. So far, I have found the information helpful, accurate, and up to date. Having lived in Alexandria for about 3 years now, I feel like this has opened me up to the bounty of activities within a short drive. I have not found a single issue lacking in at least one or two interesting articles or places to visit.

Met - Modern English Teacher

While the title of the review may sound really boring, I have to say that Modern English Teacher is one of the most modern, relevant and interesting journals in the field. Covering a huge range of issues, including technological applications in the classroom, this journal has something to offer every teacher for use in the class.

The journal also reviews a variety of works that are written by others, and these reviews are usually very much on the mark in terms of opinion and guidance towards useful material.

My own favourites are the technology articles that give ideas and techniques for exploiting technology in the class. One enduring favourite has been the music and iPod articles, (even though I have a different MP3 player), which have given useful input into an area that I am really interested in.

If you are thinking of subscribing to a journal for English teaching, I think this one is among the best. Wodnerfully presented on high quality, glossy paper, "Modern English Teacher" is indeed relevant and very practical. It has been truly written for the teaching teacher.

Predator Xtreme

This is a great magazine that is dedicated to predator hunting and gear. Very insightful about different tactics to use.

Very good magazine . i have read foreigh hunting magazines but this one is much better .The only thing I would like to read more about is traping articles. Trapping is very effective and should have its place in this magazine

Archaeology

If you are not a professional archaeologist, but interested in archeology, this is the magazine for you. It covers all areas of archeology and is written in an interesting, but technically comprehensible manner. I look forward to each issue.

I love this magazine. I started subscribing to Archaeology back in college, when money was very tight and even eating out was a huge luxury. I still have all my old issues from college. Ah! To be 20 again! But it's nice to see that the quality of this magazine has never wavered.

It must be a delight to work there... can you imagine working for a magazine where you report on real subject matter, rather than the latest Octuplets, Quintuplets, or whatever drivel passes for news nowadays?

This magazine is a breath of fresh air, and I'm so happy when I get my hands on each subsequent issue.

Thank you for putting out something that I look forward to reading every single time.

I ordered this magazine subscription as a birthday present for my father. He is an armchair archaeologist and has thoroughly enjoyed reading this magazine. It has great world coverage of different events without being so academic as to bore the lay reader. The articles are thorough and interesting. I can't say that archaeology has interested me in the past, but I find myself looking forward to each magazine and read it cover to cover. I definitely recommend this magazine.

I'm not an archaeologist. If I was born redundantly wealthy I think that I might have been one.

Archaeology is my "stop everything and read it on the day it arrives" magazine. I've been a subscriber for years. I read EVERY article. As a reader of archaeology and paleontology tomes, this magazine is the adjunct to my selections of books to read. My wife and I have planned vacations around Archaeology's articles. I've detoured business trips to take in a visit to several article sites.

During a cross country moving event 7 years ago, I let the subscription expire for lack of new address. Someone from Archaeology, not a telemarketer for sure, called me and said that I had been such a long term customer that they really wanted to know why I didn't renew ... was it something about the magazine quality? The voice on the other end was just so dang disappointed as she pleaded for feedback that it was stunning enough for me to remember 7 years later. The magazine must be read by a small but dedicated subscriber base and I think the magazine staff themselves makes the calls.

My only complaint is that it only prints every 2 months. If archaeology is among your interests, you would entertain your fancies with a subscription.

Granta

Granta is a great periodical. I read quite a few issues from years back in addition to newer issues. The writers featured are not really as "hip" as they are talented and engaging. Well assembled, interesting, great format and timely.

Wonderful little publication to introduce unknown and talented authors to their new potential readers. I have a subscription and I also got one for my dad for Christmas. He loves it too.

Advertising Age

FYI, as of Feb. 2010, it's $50 cheaper to just subscribe from the adage website.

Advertising Age gives you a birds-eye view of what's happening in the world of advertising and marketing. A good amount of news, trends, and other information is packed into dozens of small blurbs, sidebars, and page-long articles. While I enjoy the content, I have two complaints. The physical format is in-between a newspaper and magazine meaning it is printed on glossy paper and staple bound on the left edge, but it is large and floppy. The other annoying feature is the number of articles that start on the first few pages but are continued somewhere in the back.

F1 Racing - England

This British magazine is a little (well, more than a little)pricey but it's an excellent, high quality review of F1 events, people, and races. It arrives in the US about one race late -so it's not the best place to get the "news," but the editorial staff does a great job staying on top of current F1 developments, rule changes, driver changes, and other controversies, so it still feels very current.

Overall it has the look, feel and content of a big budget production. Very good editorial content and great photos.

The magazine is great! It hits the news stands in the U.S. a FULL MONTH before the subscription arrives so don't bother. I have a year (maybe 2 subscription) and I don't bother waiting for it anymore. The previews are then 2 weeks after the races are run. It's really appaling and it seems there's noone accountable. Typical really..... Great magazine. Windsor and The Bish know their stuff! Just get it at the newsstand

Good writing, excellent photography, and a sense of humor characterize this stylish magazine. It is a must for any hardcore F1 enthusiast; and you have to be hardcore to pay $72 for a subscription in the US! This is not really a magazine one goes to for all the current F1 news (there's a bajillion websites where you can find that stuff); instead it provides in-depth coverage of political and technical issues as well as interviews with star drivers, team bosses, etc. I generally receive my copy a week or two after it is released in Britain; this is rather slow, but considering that the mag reaches most US newstands a month late, it's not so bad. The only criticisms I have of the magazine are that the editor-in-chief, Matt Bishop, seems to be a bit of an egomaniac who spends a bit too much time writing about himself in his pieces and interviews. This rather annoying approach is emulated by some of the magazine's writers as well. Overall, though, this magazine is a prize and worth its steep price.

I bought this and I've got the July issue but the September issue is already on the newstand. You are always 2 issues behind the newstand. What a ripoff! They must buy the bulk leftover unsold newstand magazines and ship them third class to have them arrive so late. Go to the newstand if you want it. There is absolutely no customer service to complain to either. They won't give you an email or a phone number.

Formula 1 is the pinacle of Motor Sport and this magazine is the pinacle of motor sport journalism. It includes indepth reports on everyone and everything related to F1. It will give you a much deeper and wider understanding of the sport. This is a great magazine that I have read cover to cover each month for about 2 years now. My only complaint is that it arrives about 2 weeks after it's publication in England, but it is worth the wait.

Point De Vue - Images Du Monde

I have been kept waiting for over 4 months for this subscription to start. Whenever I call I get a runaround about talking to the wrong person, switched to another department, etc. If I had know it would be like this I could have gone directly to the magazine and had my first issue in a matter of weeks. I would never subscribe to a magazine again through Amazon

If you are interested in world royalty and history, this is the magazine to get.

Point de Vue covers the lives, activites and history of the world's royal families. It is done in a very tasteful, non-paparazzi way.

In addition they write articles about music, culture happenings and art.

So, for example, if you want to know how Her Majesty, Queen Elisabeth II is related to seven of Europe's royal families this is the magazine for you!

Guitar World (1-year)

I've been a subscriber for some time now and I find this magazine to be a great bargain. This magazine/CD combo is a must for the electric guitarist. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is too much emphasis on metal for my taste.

Is any one frustrated by the fact they paid good money to buy Guitar World magazine only to experience, in this case, the dreaded sense of Deja vu? Future Publishing is presenting as new, previously published articles again. I am referring to the trio of Pink Floyd articles that appeared in the Nov 2010 issue of GW. Wouldn't it piss you off to remember you read the same articles the previous year in another magazine. If you weren't aware, the illustration on pg47 was originally presented as the cover of last year's Classic Rock magazine Vol.139 2009 also by Future Publishing. Incidentally a better cover as it was in the form of Hi-def Lenticular cover! Let's see:

Bob Ezrin Interview by Jaan Uhelszki, representing Classic Rock now reworded/edited to represent GW especially the questions but the Erzin responses were repeated verbatim.

The title of the Kevin Murphy article was originally presented as "Behind the Wall", now reads Triumph of The Wall." Detailing Alan Parkers experience making the movie, the article was again recycled verbatim.

Classic Rock magazine went a step further and did a roundup w/ 21 different of rockstars Dio, Portnoy , Wakeman etc.and got them to share their favorite Pink Floyd experience. GW was too busy patting themselves on the back for lifting the first 3 articles.

First, while the articles were informative, they were more appropriate to and better presented in a magazine detailing the Rock Experience such as Rolling Stone, Spin or Classic Rock magazine. Actual guitar related content was minimal.

Second, I am certain the excuse will be related to country of origins, Classic Rock mag being more widely sold in Europe but if you can read english, have access to Barnes and Noble, Border Books etc. or even a computer you can buy CR Magazine anywhere in the USA. This is the very point of concern when Future Publishing bought out Guitar One and Guitar World. These 2 magazine coexisted for decades and still published original material alongside GFPM, Guitar School and Guitar Player. Why does Future Publishing have the right to repeatedly present year old material as current and original?

The magazines should conspicuously note re published articles and offer subscribers additional content or just offer original material!

I love "GUITAR WORLD"! For all those haters that gave it less than 5 stars, what do you want? THEY just started an AMAZING digital issue and have always set out to respect all styles of guitar playing. EVERY issue is a pleasure to read and they continue to bring in new and exciting articles every month. If a magazine ONLY wrote what YOU wanted it to, how would you be exposed to different styles and tastes. Guitar players are guitar players and WE ALL learn from each other.

I subscribe and I mostly like hearing about new metal music or seeing and reading about bands I like seeing what they got going on or reading stories about there experiences and that's pretty much what I look for with this magazine. I like reading the Readers mail and the readers art and the reader guitar players. I will agree with another poster they do repost articles but my memory is so bad that I most likely wouldn't catch it unless I had read the article previously. I only read what's interesting to me in the magazine so I don't always read it cover to cover sometimes I wait till the following month to read the readers mail and if they are raving about an article from the previous month and I haven't read it I will read it. I resubscribed for two more years

This is the blackest magazine out there. The musicians all wear black. The tattos are black. The ads are black. And just for visual aesthetic, the blackness of the layout is offset by a bit of black on the opposing page.

If you are a teenage metal fan, this magazine is for you! But if your musical tastes veer outside of metal, you won't find much of interest here. Yeah, now and then you see the obligatory nod to SRV or Jimi, who we are told we should worship as gods. There are lotsa articles on old metal guitarists you wish would just go away, like Yngwie. But you will never ever see an article on Chet Atkins or Wes Montgomery. Maybe if they had more tattoos. . .

Ranger Rick Jr

Got this magazine for my first granddaughter when she was two (she is now 6) and she has loved it..the second granddaughter is now two and loves it even more...
