M
I think the main problem with this magazine is the fact that they have not gone 2 years without featuring Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartney, and sometimes Lindsay Lohan on EVERY SINGLE COVER. If they had new things to write about these people, it would be fine, but the "gossip" about these stars is pretty much the same in every magazine. Also, the articles are bland and extremely shortmost of them are a page or less. The biggest thing this magazine has got going for itself are its posters... there are i think 6 gigantic posters in every issue, along with a bunch of smaller ones. Another thing I found annoying about this magazine is its constant use of IM slang (i.e. OMG!! Ur crush just asked you out! What do u do now?!)
Thus, this magazine would be best suited for those people who enjoy reading about Hilary Duff and Jesse McCartney and are under 12 years old. If you don't fit that criteria, trust methis magazine will bore you very, very easily.I would not recommend anyone order this. I'd love to review the product itself for potential customers, but --despite having placed this order more than six months ago -I still haven't received a single issue (it was a Christmas gift for my daughter). When I asked why, I got no apology, but just a comment that I would receive the June issue and that my subscription would still expire at the scheduled time. It's worth noting that the reply from customer service was riddled with grammatical and spelling errors, which did not exactly inspire confidence in this company. I'm going to explain the situation to my daughter and let her decide whether to cancel the subscription or not. Bottom line -don't order anything from Magazine Express.I love M. its really a [great] magazine, for the average teenager! One of the BEST things about it, is that in each issue, they have HUGE posters of awesome celebs! They have really cool articles in it as well...if your a fan of J-14 magazine or BOP you'll LOVE M!

Grassroots Motorsports
If you are a "tuner" type, this might not be the magazine for you, but "tuner" features have existed in the mag. If you want to see bling or scantily clad young women, you won't find it in here. Go buy yourself a Pl*yboy instead. If you are looking for car audio, there are plenty of magazines out there.
But, if you are a car person (guy or gal), enjoy your car, love driving, maybe want to race in a controlled enviroment or become a better driver----THIS IS THE MAG FOR YOU!
Many of the technical and car build features are race specific, but most can easily be translated for use in cars for spirited driving on the street. Regular "Project Car" builds, some of which are essentially "practical race cars" or "street cars" and updates are include. Regular car "profiles" are presented as well. Features regarding the explaination of such things as tire fitment and pressure, shock replacement choice, etc can be found in almost every issue.
Much time is spent encouraging responsible auto racing (if there is such a thing), and no credence is given to the street racer scene. Racing belongs in a closed course, not subjecting the general public to possible peril.
If you think that the title "Grassroots Motorsports" is not descriptive, think again. The lowly Yugo has even made it into the pages, and annual "$2xxx Challenges" occur where there is a limit to the cost of the car entering---pretty much anyone can enter (but alas it is held in Florida) How much more grassroots can it be?. This is not racing snobbery, but racing accessibility for everyone ---even "go" carts and slot cars. Good coverage of amateur racing at all levels is a mainstay in the magazine as well.
Regardless of your age, gender, car (Fireflys , Sprints, Yugos are welcome in the pages), or driving competence there is something for everyone in this mag. Want to talk about varied? Where else would you see a Honda Odessey vs. Porsche 356 vs. Jaguare XKE comparison (sorry Road and Track, Car and Driver, and Automobile magazines)?
Don't listen to me! Find out for yourself.
...and no, I don't work for them:-)Grassroots Motorsports and its sister publication Classic Motorsports Magazine are in my mind two of the best automotive publications out there. The articles are very informative, and written in a way that any enthusiast will enjoy them. No matter what their level of ability is. Reading these two magazines is like sitting in the garage listening to a friend tell you of their latest automotive adventures. This in itself would be enough to make them a must buy for me.
What really makes these two publications special is the community that is built around them. If you take the time to stop by the magazines message boards located at & you will start to get the sense of family that surrounds these two titles. These two titles are staffed by people who are our friends. Why shouldn't they be, they are all car nuts just like us.
So got to their website, request a free issue, then come join the family, you'll be glad you did!

GRM features everything that is important to me as a car enthusiast. They cover all kinds of motorsports: Autocross, rally, road racing, occasional drag racing and drifting articles, etc.Their project car series are very informative and I can always learn something for one of my projects.
There's no bias or brand obligations here. It's not a "Ford magazine" or a "Chevy magazine" or a "Porsche magazine" or a "Honda magazine". These guys are just like me: they love cars.
I look forward to a new issue in my mailbox every time. This really is my favorite magazine.

You cannot find a better source for taking any car and preparing it for any type of motorsports, from auto-x, hillclimbs, High Performance Driver's Education (HPDE), to club racing you won't find a better magazine.Excellent articles about technical issues, racing updates, schedules and the $200N Challenge is ALWAYS a treat to read about. It is truly the best magazine for anyone considering entering amateur racing and want to race their favorite car and/or their family sedan!
Want Grassroots Motorsports Discount?
Finally, a car magazine with intelligence and an interesting slant.A magazine for people that enjoy working on, playing with and racing cars, especially sports cars, but that is truly "non-denominational". You'll see Mustangs, Corvettes, Hondas, Porsches, BMWs, even the occasional Yugo, Fiat or even Lotus. Even if you don't have an open automotive mind, you'll find out cool things about cars you never knew existed.
I've been reading GRM since before I could drive (and it was called "AutoX") and I've loved every issue. Keep it up, guys!

I've ben buying LHJ for years especially since I've become a wife/mom. So when I saw a chance to subscribe at a bargain basement price, I jumped at it! My first issue arrived before the scheduled start of my subscription so I was thrilled. However, although the articles were good (this months "Can this marriage be saved?" was REALLY good), I found the paper quality, and the color, etc, a little on the poor side. Could this be the reason for the bargain basement price? Don't let this dissuade you from subscribing anyhow. After all we're all supposed to be recycling anywayRead Best Reviews of Ladies Home Journal (1-year auto-renewal) Here
I received Ladies' Home Journal magazine in the mail shortly after ordering it which was a pleasant surprise. The magazine has nice articles, helpful hints to save money (always helpful in a time like this), and a great collection of quick and easy dinners (short and to the point with basic ingredients). All in all, very pleased for a simple, light read with helpful hints for everyday life.I am very happy with my subscription. I enjoy this magazine. I appreciate how easy it is to subscribe through Amazon. I like the fact that they notify me when it is time to renew a subscription but don't automatically renew it. It makes it very easy for me to renew the ones I like best and not worry about being forced to renew a subscription that I may not like very much. Thanks, Amazon!Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Macworld (1-year auto-renewal)
There are a number of magazines devoted to Macs and their unusually devoted users. Macworld is probably the most mainstream and dependable of them.
As with most periodicals dedicated to high-tech fields, there is more in these pages than the casual user can digest. Many of the articles appeal to the MacGroupies subset of MacUsers, those who find the product fascinating in itself rather than merely a boon to productivity dedicated to other ends.
However, even a normal MacUser like myself (since 1987) can enjoy the coverage of all things Apple, including the constant improvements for which the company has become known and the relentless speculation about What Comes Next.
A small tornado of a controversy brews in the pages over whether Macworld should dedicate so much space to iPod and music issues, but Apple seems to have fairly dictated by its sprint in that direction that a magazine dedicated to covering the company's products will need to follow the direction it sets.
There are lots of productivity hints that if followed will keep you increasing your own effectiveness on the machine. The most useful feature for me has been the high-quality discussion of the improvements Apple continues to build into its own operating system(s).
Macworld is the go-to Mac magazine, if that's what you need. No, I'm not a salesman for Macworld -at least, they're not paying me anything for being one. I only know, as an owner of Apple computers for over 25 years, that Macworld will repeatedly show you how to do things that (1) you always wanted to do on a Mac, and (2) you didn't know you could do on ANY computer.
See, a key reason you're buying a Mac is that it makes it possible to do so very many things easily that a PC either can't do or makes very difficult. Right? Well, as easy as Macs do make most things, there are still a lot of details that can be hard to absorb quickly when you're just trying to make things work. Especially when you feel as though you could erase something vital accidentally with just the push the wrong button.
MACWORLD GETS THAT, and has LOTS of easy-to-undertstand articles on how to reduce your fears, get things done, and even simplify the processes in the long run. Plus, they have a website, where you can look up past and side articles that pertain to exactly what you are trying to do.
In addition, as a new Mac owner, you'll find that there are tons of outside companies -large and small -that make software and peripherals for Macs. Most are very good, but some are so geek-centric that it can be hard to understand whether what they have to offer is beneficial to you or just more on your system. Macworld is very smart about helping you understand which ones to pay attention to and which ones to avoid.
Lastly, I suggest you think of Macworld as you would a guide to your favorite hobby. That is, it's likely to have a lot of information that you know, but it will also constantly update you on aspects that you don't. Plus, since new products come out constantly for the Mac, it will also keep you up-to-date on what's available that may or may not make sense for you.
In the long run, I predict that you'll soon find a Macworld subscription to be one of the cheapest (and most valuable) investments you've ever made. And good luck with your new Mac. Welcome to the fold.
Buy Macworld (1-year auto-renewal) Now
Macworld magazine has helpful information on Macs, software, Apple products and products made by other companies that are used with Macs such as printers, scanners, etc. The articles are not as in-depth as they were in the past. (I have read every issue ever published) The magazine also has less pages than in the past. They give an overview of hardware and software and some helpful tips plus news about what is happening at Apple Corp.
A few months before your subcription ends, you will receive a renewal notice. You will be surprised to find that the renewal price is about twice as much as the original subscription price. Of course, you can start a new subscription at the lower price. But then you might miss an issue. Or you might get two issues one month and then you will only have 11 magazines from your new subscription.
Macworld should take a lesson from Wired Magazine and realize that it is possible to have a large magazine with lots of in-depth articles and a low subscription price. Hint: It is called advertising space.

Five ESSENTIAL Stars. Macworld Magazine is the one magazine that has it ALL in one convenient place and is absolutely necessary for the Macintosh computer user. Published monthly, it is chock full of articles on and reviews of the latest Macintosh/Apple equipment, software, applications, games, browsers, neat websites, and other essential products and services. From the "FEEDBACK" letters to the editor that have real substance, to an extensive "REVIEWS section covering areas like cameras, camcorders, printers, notebooks, laptops, desktops, CD & DVD recorders, etc.., to the in-depth "SECRETS" covering areas like 'the Working (office or home office) Mac', 'Digital Photo', 'Mobile Mac', 'Geek Factor', the awesome Mac OSX 'Help Desk', and the essential helpmate 'Mac 911', Macworld is the Gold Standard. It even has regular tutorials for the daring Darwin UNIX user, giving the real geeks a literal software tool kit into the inner workings of Steve Job's marvelous computer (only for the most experienced expert user). Even in cases when another magazine has a similar article, Macworld always seems to do it better, probably because it has been at the Mac publishing game longer than any other magazine to my knowledge. The arrival of Macworld magazine at your home or office each month will cause you to set aside an hour or two to read the magazine from cover to cover, and if you're like me, store it for future use. Some competing Mac magazines come with a monthly CD disk with applications, utilities, and games, but Macworld has an interesting solution in this area: they provide a "Virtual CD", based on a URL, found at the bottom of the table of contents, that leads you to a webpage full of monthly surprises normally found on a monthly disk, eliminating the need for an evergrowing stash of computer magazine CDs. Plus you have access to previous month's articles and columns. Great idea. Five Big "CORE 2 DUO" Stars!!MacWorld is required reading for the serious Mac user. It reports the latest changes in Mac software and hardware from both Apple and third-party vendors. Reviews of the latest products are essential so that you can decide when to upgrade your existing system.

AutoWeek (1-year auto-renewal)
Buy AutoWeek (1-year auto-renewal) Now
I like Autoweek because of the articles. They are usually short enough for a quick read, but provide enough information to actually inform you. It is well written and entertaining to read. My only complaint is that there are so many ads, especially towards the back of the magazine. I know that this is necessary for a magazine to survive in the digital era that we are in now. I can overlook this fault, because the rest of the magazine is filled with good substance. I would recommend this magazine to anyone that has a love or interest of cars.Read Best Reviews of AutoWeek (1-year auto-renewal) Here
I have received this magazine for many years. It is a bi-weekly publication, and I think the quality is higher since it converted from a weekly. My only problem is that my subscription did not go through as a renewal, so I started getting two copies of the same issue. I believe the correction has now been made.I get WAY too many car magazines, but you can find subscription deals for so little that it makes sense (sort of). Pick this one up on the newsstand a few times before you subscribe, it really doesn't have anything the monthlies don't, it is NOT weekly anymore, and they follow the same review embargoes as everyone else. One advantage is racing coverage, but there's something now called the internet that is instantaneous so they've lost an advantage there too. In case you're wondering, the best car mag is CAR from the UK. It's expensive but well worth it, the truly addictive crack cocaine of auto journalism.

F1 Racing - England
Overall it has the look, feel and content of a big budget production. Very good editorial content and great photos. The magazine is great! It hits the news stands in the U.S. a FULL MONTH before the subscription arrives so don't bother. I have a year (maybe 2 subscription) and I don't bother waiting for it anymore. The previews are then 2 weeks after the races are run. It's really appaling and it seems there's noone accountable. Typical really..... Great magazine. Windsor and The Bish know their stuff! Just get it at the newsstand
KS Malibu, CAGood writing, excellent photography, and a sense of humor characterize this stylish magazine. It is a must for any hardcore F1 enthusiast; and you have to be hardcore to pay $72 for a subscription in the US! This is not really a magazine one goes to for all the current F1 news (there's a bajillion websites where you can find that stuff); instead it provides in-depth coverage of political and technical issues as well as interviews with star drivers, team bosses, etc. I generally receive my copy a week or two after it is released in Britain; this is rather slow, but considering that the mag reaches most US newstands a month late, it's not so bad. The only criticisms I have of the magazine are that the editor-in-chief, Matt Bishop, seems to be a bit of an egomaniac who spends a bit too much time writing about himself in his pieces and interviews. This rather annoying approach is emulated by some of the magazine's writers as well. Overall, though, this magazine is a prize and worth its steep price.I bought this and I've got the July issue but the September issue is already on the newstand. You are always 2 issues behind the newstand. What a ripoff! They must buy the bulk leftover unsold newstand magazines and ship them third class to have them arrive so late. Go to the newstand if you want it. There is absolutely no customer service to complain to either. They won't give you an email or a phone number.Formula 1 is the pinacle of Motor Sport and this magazine is the pinacle of motor sport journalism. It includes indepth reports on everyone and everything related to F1. It will give you a much deeper and wider understanding of the sport. This is a great magazine that I have read cover to cover each month for about 2 years now. My only complaint is that it arrives about 2 weeks after it's publication in England, but it is worth the wait.

Pontoon & Deckboat
And I've YET to see a $100,000 pontoon boat inside. I think a competitor is trashing this magazine. We tried other boating magazines, but this is the only one that caters specifically to pontoon boats. I was tired of reading about yachts, cruisers, etc, in other publications and luckily I stumbled upon PDB Magazine at the doctor's office. Even the fishing articles are specific to pontoon boats, you really can't beat it. If you own a pontoon boat or are interested in maybe having one in the future, this is a must-read magazine.Unless your looking for a $100,000.00 toon don't waste your money. All articles seem to be copy paste from manufacture.

I am not impressed with this Magazine at all..Nothing exciting, I also understand they have a forum that is in uproar. Lot of censoring and post deletion is going on.. It seems that the real knowledgeable tooners left that forum and cancelled their PDB subscription as well..They don't seem to understand what "Customer Satisfaction" is all about..
I cancelled my subscription..
Want Pontoon & Deckboat Discount?
I bought a pontoon boat in 2006 and searched for a forum site to chat with other pontoon boat owners. I found PDB's site, then subscribed to the magazine.Turns out, it's 99 percent advertisements for boats over 100k and that's about it. Not worth my money at all. I complained to the editor, Brady L. Kay about the magazine and he went off on me about it being "taboo" to criticize the magazine on his site.
I held out for a few more issues, same thing and then I stopped getting issues and had to call and have another copy sent....a real pain to get the magazine delivered on time.
Go elsewhere...trust me.

Mufon UFO Journal
Occasionally interesting articles will be published, but mostly it's just Stan Friedman, a star map and accounts of UFO sightings. And honestly, UFO sightings aren't that interesting. One can only read "I saw a weird light zipping around in the sky" so many times before one would rather be anal probed than keep going. It would make a good free newsletter, but it sure as heck isn't worth $ bucks for a subscription.
If you're still interested in it despite my review, visit the Black Vault Wiki where PDFs of all of the pre-2008 back issues are available to download for free.Ive done alot of reading and research into UFO's and the paranormal since junior high, and though Im old enough to have a child in junior high I still find new material refreshing, and while MUFON has been around awhile and cant count as new it is quickly apparent that it is still around because of the quality and clout of the content. It is great to have this subject approached "Evidence Oriented" not senstional stories. Anyone into keeping up with the bottom line in UFOlogy needs to keep up with the MUFON journal.
