Budapest Business Journal
Not as in-depth as publications like the "Wall Street Journal," it does, however, highlight news necessary to serious Eastern European investors. Major articles on the current tax situation, work force issues, hedge funds and market trends all indicate that BBJ is working hard. The pieces indicate research and investigation, with a committed effort to examine all sides of the questions.
BBJ follows the personalities, movers and shakers, and trends that impact Hungary, with increasing news about the European Union. Commentaries and editorials are pro-Hungary, recognizing the great difficulty the region has, but the potential Hungary has as a leading financial center. As optimistic as the editorial staff is about the continued economic redemption of Hungary, articles lean honestly about the struggles and hurdles ahead.
Features include reviews of restaurants and entertainment, and presumes many readers are not regular visitors to Budapest.
Advertising is geared toward expats with higher incomes, with nicer restaurants, corporate services, and luxury travel filling the ad space.
While a meatier newspaper would be helpful, this is a good start. As the economy expands, so should this newspaper.

Space and Time Magazine
There are not too many of these print magazines left. Sure there are many online now, but call me old and out of touch, but it is so much more satisfying to read something in paper format. As a librarian said to me just this week when I complained that my favorite magazines at the library were no longer available in print format there but you can see them online here. I said thanks, but no thanks. She said, I know what you mean online is fine to look stuff up and for email, but for real reading, print is better. I agree.
Anyway, I say let's support these print magazines. I hear this one has been going strong for 40 years too.I ordered a subscription to this magazine with a gift certificate I got for my birth day. There are lots of excellent stories in it, as well as some I didn't like all that much. One of my favorite stories was Spacer's Gamble, by Josepha Sherman which appeared in the spring 2010 issue. The illustrations in this Magazine are pretty neat too. The only thing I don't like about this magazine is the fact that only 4 issues a year are published. This item was sent as a gift, but was met with appreciation, so I would have to give it a very positive rating.

Sports Illustrated (1-year auto-renewal)
Years pass. The boy becomes a man at least insofar as Draft Board #1 in Smithtown Long Island believes, and Mildred Yarusso sends me a ticket for my all expense paid tour of Vietnam. A year later, I return. So my life is a little chaotic, as one might expect, a little mecurial, a little off balance, a little noisy. You guys know what I'm talking about.
But one Christmas maybe that year, maybe the following year, I'm in my old bedroom. And I look in my closet, remembering that therein lay a fortune in pics of Floyd Patterson, a snarling Cassius Clay, Joe D (that's Dimagio, not Dumars), Willy, Roy C and, THEY'RE GONE. Mom, I yell, where are my SI's? "Oh, Larry," comes the response from downstairs, "they were so old I threw them out."
Well, it's OK. I mean Hell, all in all, I came out OK. But I still love the magazine. It still has the best writing around, Zimmermann, Reilly . . . the recent article on Jermaine Ewell by Jon Wertheim brought tears to my eyes. Only SI can do that . . . well, yeah, and the Red Sox losing. The sections, Faces in the Crowd, the Inside Sports columns. Like my brothers say, 'it's all good.' I look forward to the next 50. Oh. Yeah. The Swimsuit issue. What's the big deal? Who writes these anti-SI letters every year? Do you live in a cave? 5 Stars. Larry Scantlebury
Buy Sports Illustrated (1-year auto-renewal) Now
Just got this in the mail: If I allow SI to charge my credit card NOW for a subscription that isn't due to renew until 12/24/2007, they will send me 60 issues for $39.00, or .65 per issue. I have the right to discontinue this automatic billing at any time. So there is a very slight savings, somewhat offset by the fact that they will use my $$$ for an extra 9 months or so (recognizing that at the typical bank interest rate of 2%, that interest is worth about 50 cents, so I guess it pushes the per issue rate up to .66).Read Best Reviews of Sports Illustrated (1-year auto-renewal) Here
Think I might go digital in the future. Mag is good to read each week. Might find a better deal as well.I renew this subscription every year for my nephew, who is an avid sports fan. He loves the magazine and passes it along to his older brother each month. The subscription service is great, and renewing the subscription is very easy. I would recommend the magazine to anyone who loves and sports.Tuesday, October 22, 2013
Hawaii Skin Diver
The layout, photos and graphics are incredible and have earned this magazine numerous awards and critical acclaim.
While the focus is primarily on freediving and spearfishing in Hawaii, the magazine provides ample attention to other locations around the world as well.
This magazine is a great resource for both the novice and the more experienced divers. Each issue is well edited and beautifully put together. The artistic talent and real world experience of the staff is evident in every issue. You will find yourself reading every issue cover to cover the moment it arrives in your mailbox.I don't receive this subscription anymore but I have to say that I had no problems or delays while I had it. Yes it's expensive but keep in mind that's an import mag and the quality of the mag it's AMAZING!! Go to your local bookstore and check it out, but the subscription do it here is way cheaper. This is by far my favorite magazine. The photography is awesome. The stories are written by the spearo's. All of the new gear that you gotta have and all of the places you have to dive. The only down side is that it's a quarterly mag, but it's worth the wait. You can even order back issues!Skin diving is a large umbrella that covers everything from being symbiotic with the underwater world on a breath hold to competitive freediving for depth. In that large umbrella Spearfishing is also covered. However this is all the magazine chooses to focus on. Usually by doing so with pictures of men with the biggest fish they could catch while in exotic locations that only the most affluent could afford.
