Teen Vogue (2-year automatic renewal)
"Vogue" does not feature clothes from Walmart, and so "Teen Vogue" will not either.
This magazine does not necessarily cater to only rich people. who says that a person should only buy a magazine when she is going to get the exact clothes featured in it? I am definitely no millionaire. I'm 16 years old and still in High school, but I enjoy this magazine immensely.Of course I dont slip out to Marc Jacobs when i'm done reading and get myself the shirt on page 79, but I do look at the styles so i can understand the new trends and just inspire myself some. magazines dont always have to be realistic. fashion is about pursuing beauty and covetting beauty, and if all magazines only featured "affordable clothes' from Walmart and Old Navy, well.. I really wouldnt know what that would be like.
"Teen Vogue" is a pure fashion magazine. it isnt an all-round magazine for young girls. it's only fashion. and it does a great job at what it strives for. the fashion is great and the taste is great, the shoots are amazing. a former reviewer reccomended "Seventeen" and I want to note that "Seventeen" is a different type of magazine entirely. Seventeen is extremely mainstream bubblegum and is not very fashion orientated. personally i do not like that magazine but i'm not going to condemn it here.
"Teen Vogue" is classy, stylish, and lives up to it's name. you dont have to be a rich kid to read this magazine. but it's the only teen magazine out there which is dedicated souly to high fashion and yes, features the best fashion. people who are not interested in fashion will probably hate this magazine, and that is probably why it has recieved so much criticism. I, on the other hand, love this magazine. the only reason i didnt give it five stars is because the reviews above deemed the stuff in it affordable for young girls and that does strike me as ridiculous.
otherwise, look to this magazine for some fantastic fashion inspiration. My daughter likes this magazine. However, I was less then pleased when I received an email AFTER paying for the order stating that this magazine is not sent our regularly and that they could not guarantee how often, or not, we would receive it. I think I should have been notified of this PRIOR to ordering the subscription.

I subscribed to this for my niece's birthday, but only AFTER purchase, did I find out that the publication prints on an "unscheduled" basis. Why don't they show this info up front? And how many issues does it work out to be?The price was cheap, but I hope the purchase was worthwhile, since it's a gift.

I ordered this magazine from amazon half a year ago and my subscription started this January. Since then, I have been constantly disappointed by the quality of the articles that TeenVogue contains. Every time the magazine features a celebrity and writes about them, they always say "She may live a glamorous lifestyle, but she's just like you." This concept is recurring in every issue and is absolutely boring to read about. Their articles are also immensely shallow and repetitive and reading them reminds me a bit of reading my own writing. They may be trying to appeal more to the teen audience, but it is definitely a turn off for me. The number of appearances of the unnecessary form of "like" is cringe-worthy. The articles written are also very cheesy and cliche, and never provide me with any information that I did not already know. Also, I don't like how small the magazine is, but this cancels out with the cheap price.
However, I give this magazine two stars for the plastic bag it comes in. The magazine comes to my house clean and protected. Also, it has some pretty pictures. I'll probably use the magazines to cut up and make collages since none of them have any better use anyway.
If you are a fifteen year old like me and are thinking about getting a fashion magazine, I believe that it's better to get ELLE and skip over the risqué parts than to get TeenVogue. At first I was very excited on the deal I got on this magazine... but after a couple months it seemed like half of the magazine was filled with ads, not to mention that most of the articles weren't very interesting. They also failed to send me my 'free subscription gift' which was a large tote. After calling in for a request they still didn't send me a gift. But it seemed to become more dissapointing as they year went on now it seemed that every 2 pages of the book there was at least one ad. I would DEFINITLY NOT recomend this book to anybody! :(

Gastronomica
This offbeat, classy magazine is for the thinking food lover. What a treat! The "New Yorker" for food is often how I describe this magazine to colleagues and friends. The articles are well written, though occasionally idiosyncratic. It is one of two magazines I subscribe to (the other being the New Yorker.) If the alleys and byways of food are as interesting to you as the grand boulevards, then this magazine will appeal to you. It is not Gourmet or Martha Stewart (not that I have a problem with either of those titles, this magazine is just different), but if you enjoy food writing about varied topics from a slightly academic point of view this magazine would be a good choice.Gastronomica is a thoughtful, inspirational magazine, filled
with insightful commentary on all aspects of food. The well-researched articles reflect the individual passion of its contributors; it is for the "thinking cook" who values substance over fluff.

This is one of the most beautiful magazines produced in Americatoday. The paper and print quality are such that holding it in
one's hands is almost an erotic experience.
The articles are sometimes witty, occasionally deep and often
quirky and the illustrations are thoughtful and the covers frameable.
This is an ideal magazine for the food lover who is as fond of
a good read as a good meal.
--Lynn Hoffman, author of THE NEW SHORT COURSE IN WINE and
the forthcoming novel bang BANG from Kunati Books.ISBN 9781601640005GASTRONOMICA is the intelligent chef's magazine, filled with provocative essays and historical pieces that reveal well-researched topics and musings on the art of food and its place in society. The magazine is scholarly, insightful, playful, and highly articulate in form and function.

Ifr Refresher
It's a good supplement an intense pilot will use to maintain his or her IFR awareness.Without a doubt it's the best pilot reading I do every month, cover to cover. Many articles are challenging enough in technical content to merit reading it twice. More constructive than NTSB Reporter. Much less expensive than an hour of flight. Any single article could save your life. Buy the back issues. Buy a 3 ring binder. Buy a gift subscription. The Mar & Apr 2010 issues have been a real disappointment both in length (only 16 pages) and content. I expected more quality content with useful practical information based on editor Rick Durden's columns on . Basically, I wouldn't recommend this publication to anyone with much instrument experience. I was hoping that it would be a useful source of "enrichment" material to use in my instrument ground schools, but alas, there has been little really useful for that either. Use the $59 to buy a copy of the FAA Instrument Procedures Handbook (FAA-H-8261-1 and ISBN 9781560275510) and a copy of Peter Dogan's Instrument Flight Training Manual (ISBN 0916413268)

More (1-year auto-renewal)
Of course, the invevitable celebrity graces the cover (this IS what people want to read, apparently, according to whatever marketing tools magazine editors use.) And the articles are not earth-shaking or in depth in any way. MORE replaces several other magazines gone belly-up, as advertisers apparently don't want dollars from gals over 35, possibly because they spend their dough with great discernment; $250 for a trendy corset-shaped handbag? Hmm, maybe NOT. Since "Lear's", "Mirabella" and "Mode" all bit the dust in the last decade or so, this is what there is for fashion and forty or fifty year old female. Hey, it beats "Reader's Digest" for fashion advice, is all I can say. When I was a teen, I read 16 and SEVENTEEN magazines. In my 20s, I read Glamour; Mademoiselle was my magazine of choice in my early 30s and Cosmopolitan did it for me as I approached late 30s. Once I got to my mid-40s, none of the aforementioned magazines seemed to speak to me anymore. At 49, I'm way past the "do's and don'ts" of fashion and "how to drive your man wild" kinds of articles. :-) I wanted to know how other women were dealing with middle age and everything that comes with it --weight gain, crows feet, menopause -as well as the usual beauty stuff! There are articles in this magazine dealing with taking care of aging parents, grown-up kids who won't leave the nest, making your way in the corporate world, and lots of other things that are relevant to women my age and their lifestyles. Also, I love the cover models! I'm never going to be as thin or well put together as Susan Sarandon, Cybill Shepherd or Glenn Close, but it's nice to see so many women MY age on the cover of a magazine I love!

Okay...so here we are...an elite generation of women who have watched the world change for the last 35 years or so and we were a big part of it. We are women of a certain age(ahem), that are old enough to remember the Kennedy Assassination, Woodstock, our boyfriends going off to Viet Nam, the Swinging Seventies and raised a whole new generation...and yes...are proud of it. So now we are what may be considered grown up(I'm still not sure about that part)...what's next? What MORE is there out there?!....Do we want to sit at home raising another generation and be the snack monitor for the grandkids soccer team?...Heck no! Okay occassionaly but.. We Want MORE than that!MORE magazine bills itself as being 'Smart Talk For Smart Women'...and it is! This magazine is chock full of motivating stories and articles of inspiring women(some famous, some not so famous) making the most of their lives.Women who like us, who have "been there and done that" are now finding new and fulfilling directions in their lives. From starting your own business to starting a new relationship, you'll find it all here. There are fabulous features on health, beauty tips, fashion advice for the 40 and up gal,and some great financial advice as well.
Finally a magazine geared toward more than good housekeeping(if you are like me, and haven't gotten that part down by now...fahgetaboutit!)It's a pretty good size periodical, and not because it is filled covered to cover with gorgeous models. What you'll find instead, are true role models!
So between the ads for the newest and best wrinkle cream(Yeah Sure), to the best fiber supplement, you will find many intellegent, informative and motivational reads! The subscription price offered here is a great value.(I always think it is best to get an issue from the newstand to check out first).
Now available a 2 year subscription a really good deal:More Magazine (2-year)
For yourself or a gift....you go girl!...and enjoy...LaurieOf the numerous magazines I subscribe to, this is one of the most useful for women over 40. No bimbo articles, no articles about 10 ways to contort oneself---well, you get the idea. What it DOES have is informative and intelligent articles such as the recent one about common haircolor mistakes made by mature women, complete with before-and-after pictures. There are some fun articles, and some articles like another recent one about the women in President Bush's inner circle of advisors. (Very reassuring, that one.) The newstands either don't get many copies, or they sell quickly, so you may not have seen it, but it's worth a look!Who doesn't want to look her best???? Yes this magazine does use space to talk about clothes and looking good. One of my favorite fashion pages is where they have three different readers/models wear an outfit and comment on it. All the women are over 40 and the comments aren't always flattering it seems real. There also is some serious commentary and subjects broached that overall appeals to women over 40 and other intelligent people. I don't believe that if you are a woman over 40 you will regret subscribing to this publication. Just flip through an issue at the newstand and you will be convinced.
