Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems

Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex SystemsI guess if you want to understand the non-linearities of complex systems, this is the place to start. Personally though, I prefer the competing magazine available at your local newsagent, 'Inverse complexity of linear systemic synergy as applied to the non-linear asystemic hypercomplex'

Mine sit in a pile next to the loo. Visitors seem to like it.

Campagne Decoration

Campagne DecorationCampagne = French country. Borders bookstore was still in business when I found this magazine. Though I'm not French speaking I loved it and was given a subscription for my birthday. No need to be bilingual to appreciate the novelty of style. The study time I put into each issue makes the subscription price per copy excellent. The magazine took months and months for the first copy to arrive. Magazine was ordered in March first copy came in October. Still I would order again.

I actually have not yet subscribed, so this brief review is for the magazine itself. I bought an issue at a newsstand and have looked everywhere since for it. The newsstand never got in any subsequent issues so I plan to take the plunge and subscribe because it is such a lovely periodical. Though the subscription rate is expensive it amounts to the same price as I paid per newsstand issue. It is an even lovelier magazine than Cote Sud, which has always been a favorite. Campagne Decoration seems a bit more "country" in style, more traditional Provencal homes and decor. But it is an elegant magazine, not "twee" or too sweet and cutesy but rather reflects the charming, elegant style of that lovely corner of the world called Provence. The photography is exquisite, and as the other reviewer noted, you need not be fluent in French for the pictures say thousands of words. If you are a Francophile or love the South of France lifestyle, this magazine is for you.

Small Farm Today : Total Concept Small Farming Gardening & R

Small Farm Today : Total Concept Small Farming Gardening & RSFT takes a rather unsteady stance over the span between regional/local publication to broader, national interest magazine. It appears that it was recently more of a local (Missouri) publication that is seeking to reach a wider audience. Or perhaps I was just that broader audience seeking something that wasn't really there. The articles can be interesting but the ads and conference announcements are 99% Missouri-centric. For the money it is not really worth it. (They also persist in carrying an ad in every issue with an enticing a tractor deal that has a dead www link and seems to be some sort of scam. A bit "sketchy" as my son would say.)

Brigitte Woman

Brigitte WomanThis is a great magazine.

Long time ago, when I still lived in Germany, I read "Brigette", which is the same only for younger people.

I asked my brother to send me a copy and he included "Brigette Woman", I did not even know that that was available.

I thouroughly enjoyed reading it, finding out what goes on in Germany while being able to sharpen my German reading skills.

So, anyone wanting that experience, I highly recommend this magazine, even though it took quite some time before the subscription started arriving here.

This magazine had more ads than content. If print magazines are to survive they must be worth their price. thanks

Water CraftA beautiful English magazine mainly concerned with small traditional boats, mostly sail and oar, but some power. Great photography; well written. Reminicent of the old Small Boat Journal.

Marathon & Beyond

Marathon & BeyondMarathon & Beyond is, simply put, a treasure. It is published by a group of fanatical running enthusiasts who get to know their subscribers. I met them at a running expo one year, and the next year they remembered the encounter.

Ok, the magazine. Great, long articles without full-page ads for muscle-building supplements and the like. Well-thought out training tips. Race reviews. Gear reviews. Fiction and non-fiction epic running stories. And great subscriber letter feedback in the form of Q&As every issue.

No, it ain't cheap. But it is worth supporting something this great for less than the cost of ONE running shoe.

It isn't cheap, but if you are really into marathons or ultras, this is a wonderful magazine to subscribe to. Best out there.

Rock Sound - Uk Edition

Rock Sound - Uk EditionWhile in England I saw a magazine entitled "Rock Sound" in the music section of a shop. I have to admit the free cd in the package is what drove me to buy the magazine, but also the several pages in the back which are dedicated solely to CD reviews. I have found at least 10 good bands from those review pages alone. The magazine features bands of all kinds, though my favorites are the punk and indie bands. You may not want to subscribe to it because its more expensive than buying each individual magazine at some store like borders or something. Each issue is like $6.50 and to pay over $100 really means u are just paying for shipping which is silly. The magazine is definitely worth getting if you are tired of lame American music magazines like Spin that really dont say much adn just publish whatever is popular at that moment in time. Rock Sound is #1 in my book and I just wish it was easier to find in the states.

This mag leads where others follow. I find out about all the best new bands from rock sound.

Blue & Gold Illustrated

Blue & Gold IllustratedThis company delivers the issues chronically late when they arrive at all. No issues have been received for three weeks despite renewal having been paid months ago. Completely usesless for keeping up to date with current football season. Not worth the price. A complete rip off. This was a gift subscription for a 90 year old ND alum, and he is very disappointed in the low quality service.

When I purchased the Blue & Gold magazine for my husband it stated that the magazines may not start arriving for 8-12 weeks. That really concerned me as he is an avid ND football fan and wanted to get the early news before the games started. I went ahead and purchased the subscription on July 23 with much hesitation. The first issue arrived about three weeks later and my husband is very satisfied with this purchase. Next year I will order earlier just to make sure he gets the magazine in August.

WHEN MY HUSBAND RECEIVES AN ISSUE HE IMMEDIATELY SETS TIME ASSIDE TO READ IT. SOMETIMES HE WILL SPEND OVER AN HOUR GOING OVER SPECIFIC INFORMATION. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF HE IS TIRED OR NOT HE WILL READ PART OF THE MAGAZINE IMMEDIATELY. AFTER READING ALL HE WANTS WHICH MAY TAKE A DAY OR TWO HE WILL SHARE IT WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY AND CALL SOME FRIENDS TO INFORM THEM OF WHAT HE READ. I WISH THE MAGAZINE CAME EVERY MONTH, IT BRINGS SO MUCH JOY TO MY HUSBAND

I have had a sudscription to B&G off and on my whole life. Most recent, I had a subscription over the past 2 years. I love the content of the newspaper, but it never came on time. during the season I would get my issue a week late. The 1st half of the issue is previewing that weeks game, making half the issue useless to me.

I ordered a magazine a few weeks ago and he won't receive my gift til late April. I wish I had known that before I oredered.
