Vermont Magazine

Vermont MagazineIn the recent past, I've subscribed to Vermont Life. Unfortunately, that magazine was full of more advertisements than Vermont Life. I thought this year, I'd give this publication a try. What a wonderful surprise! I've received my 1st issue and its full of interesting articles about my beloved state. I realize that some advertising is a must, but it was refreshing to read this magazine.

One of the things I like most about Vermont Magazine is its home-town feel and appearance. The articles are written by Vermonters or those who simply love it and want to share their experiences. One thing that continually frustrates me about current magazines is the proliferation of advertising, much of it inappropriate. The advertisements are tasteful and most of them showcase Vermont business. There are a few in the current issue that have international products, but are associated with a store or event. For example, one can win a Sony digital camera in the Vermont Magazine photo contest.

There is a regular "Features" section that features four to six different articles. In the July/August 2012 issue there is one entitled "Jumping Off the Shelves," an article about Vermont's independent bookstores. In the March/April issue the is one about "Fred's Cabin," a Woodswoman-like article about a "hillside cabin [that] was built entirely from scratch." The magazine has evolved into a lovely magazine replete with excellent quality, full-color photographs and wonderful articles. Unlike its competitor, Vermont Life, this one still has stories this household anticipates and loves to read.

Bible Expositor and Illuminator

Bible Expositor and IlluminatorThis was purchased for my mother and it seems to keep her busy. It arrived well ahead of schedule and she was very glad that see didn't miss an issue.

I have received my 1st 2010 edition of the "BIBLE EXPOSITOR AND ILLUMINATOR," SPRING QUARTER

I have used the magazine for a number of years. My brother who was a minister(now deceased) instructed me to use the BIBLE EXPOSITOR AND ILLUMINATOR along with my Sunday School Commentary. I have been delighted that he gave such an insightful teaching tool. Amazon was prompt with my order. Thanks for the opportunity. I am a home-bound, disabled senior citizen and having my reading materials mailed to me is very important. God Bless and have a safe and spirit filled Lent Season.

Sincerely,

Pianist - Canada

Pianist - CanadaI have been a subscriber since Volume 1. It is one of the best magazines for the serious pianist or the beginer. Good articles that are relevant, excellent choise of pieces to perform, and the CD is a great help especially with the music minus one. If you want to improve your scope of music and add additional perfomance peices this magazine is a must.

I really enjoy this magazine. I didn't have any of the service problems that the previous reviewed had. I ordered mine through Amazon and I get the free CD with every copy.

Buy Pianist - Canada Now

I ordered this magazine from Amazon back in February 2006. The first issue finally arrived a over 3 months later. (You probably don't want to buy this subscription as a gift unless you don't mind if your friend thinks you forgot to get them anything!) When the magazine eventually arrived there was a problem with my copy so I called the Pianist magazine customer service department. After about 10 minutes of annoying muzac I spoke to a representative. They said they could not answer my question and promised to call back in 30 minutes. That was 4 weeks ago and they still have not bothered to call back.

As for the magazine content it's quite interesting but mainly if you like concert reviews, info on piano competitions and CD reviews. There's not very much about to play piano yourself.

Finally, if you do decide to buy this magazine get it direct from the publisher. They give you a free CD of piano music that you don't get if you order your subscription from Amazon eventhough it costs the same price.

Good luck if you choose this magazine. I hope your experience is better than mine.

The first issue arrived after a three month wait. The magazine has great content and good sheet music, but no attached CD diminishes the value.

Want Pianist - Canada Discount?

This magazine comes with a CD and printed music that goes from beginning Bach to Lizst. The articles have great depth, and there's a Q&A page with very specific suggestions. Although it's coming from Canada, I have not noticed much of a wait for each issue. I recommend it to classical players from (not quite) beginner to advanced. (They also occasionally have a contemporary piece, but I don't love those.)

Family Business - Pa

Family Business - PaSince the "odds" are strongly stacked against them, business families who intend to "beat the odds" require the best available resources(e.g. advisors, family business forums and publications.) As a subcriber for more than 10 years, I've found FAMILY BUSINESS to be the single best publication in the field. This quarterly publication features a wide variety of articles which match well with the diverse interests of family members of all ages and generations. As a consultant to business families, I encourage my clients to take multiple subscriptions, ideally one for each member of the family or at least several to ensure wide readership within the family.

P.S. I also make extensive use of the Searchable On-Line Family Business Library which is part of your subscription. This is a user-friendly archive of hundreds of past articles on almost any family business topic. Worth the price of the annual subscription!

Gq - Italian Edition

Gq - Italian EditionI am absolutely addicted to this magazine. It is great for practicing your reading comprehension and, as an added benefit, provides a good exposure to the current events/fashion/culture etc in Italy.

The only bad thing about this subscription is its price. Luckily, I live in New York and can pick up a copy at Barnes&Noble for less than $10. It's about $40 off the annual subscription... It is simply doesn't make sense for me to subscribe, but I would if I didn't have access to the store.

I subscibed to this magazine for a year and I enjoyed it a lot. I have some difficulty reading and understanding the articles but needed to learn. I didn't keep the subscription though because it went higher. I reccommend if you can afford the import premiums.

I used to read and was a regular subscriber to the now defunct Lattitudes and Attitudes magazine. When the owners of L&A made a bad business decision that cost them the loss of L&A, I had to find another boating magazine. This is an outstanding replacement for L&A. In fact, this is a much better magazine than L&A. I wish I had found this one sooner. I would never have subscribed to L&A and lose my money with them due to their stupid way of doing, or should I say not doing business. This is a professional looking and professionally put together magazine. If you enjoy boating or dreaming of boating, this is a great magazine. Soundings is another great boating magazine. I highly recommend both, but if you had to pick just one, I would pick Cruising World.

Cross Country Stitching

Cross Country StitchingBeautiful pictures, accurate charts and clear graphs makes this one of the best cross stitching magazines on the stands today. Projects range from easy and quick to advanced and unique. Every issue is packed with loads of creative ideas. In addition, you have access to some of the best shops in the nation for materials. Customer Service is wonderful with cheerful, helpful people who know the business and how to make your cross stitching experience relaxing and enjoyable. This magazine is a must for any cross stitcher.

I have been subscribing with this magazine since the first issue. I am a avid cross stitcher. I only wished I had more time. The articles are great. The patterns are easily seen and colorful. They can fit into any home. Some of them have biblical reference. I love the reciepe that they include into the magazine.

You cant go wrong with this subscription....only wished I could order more time to stitch.

I stitched one pattern out of these magazines a number of years ago. It was a beautiful sunflower sampler with crows. So lately I have been flipping through every issue at the local bookstore hoping for something along those lines. Unfortunately, I found these magazines to be rather redundant and every pattern has practically the same style. I am beginning to feel that once you seen one of these magazines you have seen them all. I have no problem with arts-n-craft or country themes, and I LOVE quilts and tole-painting, and I liked the verses and topics that the patterns were focused on, but I need variety. I like many different styles of patterns, floss colors, artists, realism, other cultures, nature scenes, etc. This magazine just did not fit what I was looking for.

This magazine is wonderful and customer service is great. The patterns are the "country" look, more like folk art, with wonderful samplers and my favorite the "country shoppes" that occurs in most October issues. These are so cute I want to do them all and you can order back issues at a very reasonable price. The charts are very easy to read, because they are not on the glossy paper like other magazines are. They also offer for sale the material you need to complete the project, along with great frames at a reasonable price. I like doing one of their patterns while I am doing a more "difficult" project, for a great "break" and a relaxing time, the only problem is you don't want to stop their projects to go back to the harder ones. They use a lot of the "new" overdyed threads too, which are so pretty. This is a great magazine for a great price, and I love the scripture that is included on many projects.

Can't give this one up! It has great idea's, charts and an easy way to understand how to design what you are doing. Just love this!

Antiques Roadshow Insider (1-year auto-renewal)

Antiques Roadshow InsiderThis magazine is great for anyone who doesn't always get the opportunity to see the show on a regular basis. If you watch the show regularly and re-watch it in repeats, the magazine will not tell you anything you didn't already see. It is nice to have it somewhere in writing to make references though.

My wife just received her first copy of the Anitques Roadshow Insider "magazine" which I gave her for Christmas. It took about 2 months from the time I placed to the order to the arrival of the first issue. She was sorely disappointed to find that the so-called magazine was a total of 8 pages, printed both sides. It is printed on a newsprint type of paper, not slick like a normal magazine. I'd say it is worth about 50 cents an issue, not the $3.50 per issue I paid. It's got some good information, but there's not much of it, definately not worth the price!

The experts are genuinely interested in the appraisals they give

and seem truly interested in being very helpful and informative

with each person and what they have brought to the Roadshow.

I can honestly say some of the paintings I viewed are quite

good and very desireable to a dealer or collector.I was a dealer

myself, had a shop in the Hamptons, L.I. and did many Connecticut

antique shows. I have a fine collection myself of many types of

Early Americana. Thanks for a fine show

Martha Stewart Weddings (1-year auto-renewal)

Martha Stewart WeddingsInvaluable for the do-it-yourself bride who wants a hands-on wedding, or who just wants to save money (don't we all!). From gowns to centerpieces, Martha shows you how to get that expensive designer look without the expensive designer price tags. Her signature taste and elegance are evident in every suggestion. Highly recommend

This magazine is great!!! The Weddings magazine is for the bride who wants great ideas and advice for a stylish and elegant wedding. The magazine includes great articles for wedding tips, sanity savers and after the wedding advice. Weddings does contain advertisements for attire, BUT that is not their only service. This magazine also includes wonderful "real wedding" stories that are inspiring and give great ideas for your own wedding. I highly recommend this magazine for a more mature bride, or for a bride who already has picked out her dress but still wants great wedding ideas.

Martha puts out the absolute best wedding magazine there is. It's worth every penny, too bad there is only one issue per season. Being engaged one year left me only four issues before the wedding-so order early!

Read Best Reviews of Martha Stewart Weddings (1-year auto-renewal) Here

I get Martha Stewart's, Brides, and Bridal Guide magazines. (I'm a magazine addict... and there was a magazine sale on Amazon...) The price for this magazine is a little high... and I don't really like that there are only 4 a year. (Brides is 12 and Bridal Guide is 6.) This magazine is definitely more crafty than any other wedding magazine out there, which is expected since it's a Martha Stewart product.

I think it's definitely more geared for decoration than dresses for example, but the ideas are fun... and even nice for non-wedding things. The main drawback I feel is that I am signed up to their email newsletter, and I feel like I basically get the magazine in bits and pieces throughout the 4 month period for free... Obviously, it's a little different to have a hard copy in front of you versus looking online at things... that's the main reason I still get the magazine... but I would say for the most part all the cool ideas are available through their wedding website...

Want Martha Stewart Weddings (1-year auto-renewal) Discount?

If I could give this magazine more than 5 stars, I would. Martha helped me organize, plan, decorate, and personalize my wedding with her creative and affordable do-it-yourself ideas. With all the other bridal magazines out there that simply consist of advertisements and small articles on meaningless details, or things even a man would know about weddings, MSW stands out from the pack, and thank goodness. I am a graphic designer and wanted my wedding to be personalized and unique, and, well, "me." This magazine has great ways to pull your ideas together for the full package not just how to create name cards for example, but templates for you to take and make your own. Every issue I read cover to cover, and then went back for more. Don't waste your time and money on any other bridal magazine unless you just care about what nail color is hot for brides, or the best way to wear your hair if it is long... blah blah blah. This is it, as a recently wed bride, I swear by it.

Western Horseman (1-year auto-renewal)

Western HorsemanThe BEST All Around Horse Magazine Period Also The BEST current price. If a horse owner can only have one equine related magazine this is is the ONE I would recommend. I believe they have been in business since 1938 and know what they are talking about, in an entertaining non-technical manner. Excellent photos, with horse health, some show AND trail riding information.

I can't remember when I started reading Western Horseman. My mother had a subscription back in the fifties, even though we had Arabians and half-Arabians. As the title suggests, Western Horseman is a magazine for western horsemen. Back in the fifties you wouldn't see an English saddle in the magazine. However, I read it cover-to-cover then and I read it that way now. Even during the time I couldn't own a horse, I read Western Horseman. Nowdays, they occasionally include a horse with an English or, more likely, an Australian or Endurance saddle among all those western stock seat saddles. But that is fine. Western Horseman is what it claims to be, the premier magazine for western horsemen even if they don't live in the west or ride stock seat. The magazine is full of information about western stock horse disciplines. Their articles are basic and practical. Their writers are people I have never met but whose names are as familiar to me as my next-door-neighbor. They write about horse people. I have learned about rodeo clowns, bullriders, cowboy poets and western artists as well as horses. They write about the western way of life and those people who try to preserve it even as it changes around them. So, if you buy Western Horseman, and I hope you do, don't expect to read only about horses, although you will find plenty about horses. Expect to read about western horsemen in all their variations.

Western Horseman is the premier horse magazine, with articles on all aspects of horses and horsemanship from trailers and trailering to horse packing, shoeing, disease and parasite control as well as special focus pieces on the different breeds of horse. The Western Horseman is THE horse magazine. It started in 1936. My mother wrote an article that was published in Volume 2, Number 4 in 1937. It was about the cowboys in New Mexico along the Pecos River. The ranch was the Turkey Track. I would like to have the issue, but over the years it disappeared. We, she and I raised horses for many years in Kansas and Oklahoma until a back injury slowed me down.

Over the years the magazine has kept up with the changing styles and breeds of western horses. More power to them!!

Keep me in mind if you have the issue I mentioned, and would like to sell it to me.

Brutus Magazine

Brutus MagazineI read this magazine for more than 10 years now. Though it's in Japanese, and my limited Japanese language skill cannot aid me to fully understand all the text, I find it the best and most interesting magazine focusing on modern living and design innovation. Especially it becomes more international in the recent years in terms of content and vision.

Other than having a theme, it features and covers almost every aspects of today city life thoughtout every issue. From fashion to dining, entertainment to culture, even achitecture and technology, you'll be amazed how the working team do their research so diversely and deeply.

On top of all the fulfilling and updating content, it also shows a very unique and lively layout design. It's particularly good for graphic designer as inspiring reference.

Again, I think it has already stepped out of its own country/bountry and will very soon reach an important position in the global magazine market.
