Transworld Surf (1-year auto-renewal)

Transworld SurfGreat magazine. Can't get this for any cheaper so you might as well go through Amazon. Takes about 3 weeeks to get your first issue.

The articles and photos save me in the long cold winter months in the cold North.

What sets this mag apart from others is the format, paper quality and the quality of it's contributors.

This is a perfect gift for yourself, anyone who surfs, or anyone who is interested in looking at beautiful pictures and exploring far off places.

Crochet!

Crochet! This is my favorite crochet magazine. Like any magazine, I don't like every pattern in here (of course), but every issue has at least a few patterns that I like. AND they're always good patterns. Books bought online or at the store are hit-or-miss when it comes to good patterns. They often have patterns that simply don't work--they have too many mistakes. But this magazine is always well tested and good.

If you are looking for a lot of clothing patterns this is the magazine for you. I am constantly amazed at how many patterns they fit into one issue and the quality of design. I have been crocheting for 32 years and the patterns in this magazine inspire me to keep at it.

This is not your grandma's crochet. This is beautiful sweaters with wonderful drape, and modern design. They don't stop there...in addition to clothing I have also made some cute toys and beautiful afghans. The primary focus is on clothing, however, there is plenty to keep you happy for those times that you are not in the mood to do a wearable.

In addition to the wonderful patterns there are articles and how to's that explore new techniques.

Out of the past two issues I have made at least 4 projects from each one and have many more in my Ravelry queue.

I learned how to crochet when I was about 8 years old. Now I'm in my forties and I don't think there's any crochet I haven't tried. I get bored with patterns for toys or to cover your dishwashing liquid container, etc.

I never get bored with this magazine. There are a mix of challenging to easy/intermediate patterns. They are outside the norm and I find that lots of times I can easily alter them to incorporate beads or whatever. I've made a few wearables for friends and family and it's so gratifying to see someone enjoy your work and get to wear a pretty much one-of-a-kind top. Also, crochet tops hide a multitude of "sins". I have a friend who has a nice figure but she's had a few children now so is uncomfortable showing her middle. I made her a top from a pattern from this magazine that had tight stitching at the top for modesty but I did a more openwork diamond type of pattern on the bottom that let her skin show through and she wore it lots of times this last summer. I'm working on another for her for next year and will give it to her for her birthday in February.

I really enjoy this magazine and hoard the issues to keep coming back to them as time allows. I think this is definitely one of the better crochet magazines and worth the money.

USA Today : the Nations Newspaper - 1 Year Subscription

USA Today : the Nations Newspaper - 1 Year SubscriptionIf you are already a subscriber to USA Today and just want to renew, you should probably wait until your existing subscription is about to expire before ordering through amazon. USA Today doesn't seem to be able to make the link between the existing subscription and one ordered through a 3rd-party, resulting in a less-than-full year extension. I like the paper tho it is the only way I get national sports news; my local paper only covers the local teams.

My nephew was sentenced to 24 years in the "Ham" for a stupid stunt when he was 17 (attempted robbery with two 16 year old boys). The "Ham" is an old state prison near Lovelady, Texas. Clyde, from Bonnie and Clyde, served time there. There are no TVs, little access to outside information, no air conditioning or heating, and certainly no cell phones.

Families are not allowed to send gifts. The only option families have is to pay a publisher to send books and magazines. Even these are reviewed by the prison officials for "acceptable" content. You can't send holiday gifts, nothing but letters, books and magazines. I received an official letter from a prison official saying "you can't send extra stamps in your letters.. it's a 'violation'".

Well my nephew loves USA Today! It's the best source of news and cultural information that's printed daily, and it's a great holiday gift. His release date is not for another 4 years, but since rehabilitation is mostly "virtual" in Texas, USA Today is helping to prepare him for the shock he'll have when he steps outside that prison after 24 years. Without USA Today he wouldn't know much about cell phones, personal computers, gps devices, etc. Now when we visit him, we can talk politics, technology and national events with him. Without USA Today our conversations revolve around prison food with is pretty bad.

Scientriffic

ScientrifficCSIRO is going downstream. This magazine tries to educate primary and high school students about science. By showing that science can be cool and interesting. The articles tend to be rather breezy and lightweight. But then again, it's for a young audience's attention span. When the competition is TV and video games and manga, it may be inevitable that CSIRO has to pitch its message this way.

At least you can be assured that the underlying science is accurate. The articles vary, from astronomy to archeology to oceanography. The sheer size and diversity of the Australian continent gives the editors a lot of local topics to bring forth. (Though keep in mind that not every article is about stuff in Australia.)

Hobby Farm Home (1-year auto-renewal)

Hobby Farm HomeI do not live on a farm and I don't have anything larger than a small garden but, this magazine has lots for even me. I use this to come up with ideas for projects to do with my kids. Some the old ways of cooking, canning, and just living are being lost to our children. This magazine brings the older ways back. The kids love the idea of making paper this fall. I have learned how to make wine and an old fashioned German dinner as well as how to make a bird bath that looks like a leaf. This magazine really is wonderful for everyone.

I just received my first issue and was very pleased with it. The photography is wonderful and the magazine is filled with substance, not ads, like so many magazines are. Although I do not own a farm (or even that much land!) it is easy to appreciate the articles as they range from recipes for edible flowers, different types of artisan honey, and reusing items you already have to become better organized.

I love this magazine. It has something for everyone living in the country, and even those that don't. The articles are a good length and they vary, so you can choose what you have time for. The photos are beautiful and inspiring. I wouldn't change a thing. Just don't get too anxious after you order...it said I wouldn't be receiving the subscription for a few months, so I bought the latest copy, only to have it arrive in the mail a week later.

Shooting Illustrated

Shooting IllustratedThis is an excellent magazine at an exceptional price. Very good reviews and articles. I doubt that there is any profit being made, but if the NRA can manage to make a profit on this magazine .... more power to them. They deserve it! If you are not a member of the NRA I would please beg of you to join ASAP. Our 2nd Amendment rights are being challenged by politicians everyday and the NRA stays on top of it. It will be the best $25.00 you ever spent!

I would like to see this magazine offered electronically. Searched but could not find anything out there. Enjoy reading it.

Blue Ridge Country

Blue Ridge CountryBLUE RIDGE COUNTRY covers the mountain regions of Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina and Kentucky. The best features of the magazine are the pictures and the calendar of events listed chronologically for each state. The rest of the publication contains some interesting articles and of course a lot of advertisements.

Having received this magazine subscription previously and lettingit lapse, I was looking back at an issue several years old and realized how much I liked this magazine. I purchased it from Amazon for a good deal.

Blue Ridge Country is where I live and I like reading about our local weather, places to visit, and new recipes. I also enjoy using it to show my guests places of interest when they visit.

Lowrider (1-year auto-renewal)

LowriderTHIS IS A TOTAL RIP OFF! THEY DIDN'T EVEN SEND THE MAGAZINE & IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A GIFT. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.

The person that was to receive this magazine has still not received it...I have not received any emails from anyone saying that there was a problem. You all got my money but we got nothing.

Buy Lowrider (1-year auto-renewal) Now

My experience with ordering the Lowrider subscription has been an absolute disaster!! They don't keep accurate records. There is always a problem. The same one EVERY MONTH that prevents them from sending out the issues monthly as advertized. Then to make bad worse, it takes them another 12 weeks minimum to send the issue out! They missed my February issue and I don't get ,my next one tell JUNE!!!!! I would STRONGLY recommend that you not waist your time or money on this. It's a rip-off!!

My purchase of Lowrider Magazine has been attributed to the love of lowriding. Lowrider mag has great articles covering the the lastest gadgets for your lowrider as well as interesting articles on how-to when it comes to customizing your ride. The cars featured in the magazine are vehicles benchmarking the current trends within the culture. My subscription will make sure that my project will become a show-stopper when unvailed. Thanks.....
